Genetic Strength?

I have been lifting for 1 year and 8 months. The progress that i have had is awesome. I can lift more then most ppl who have been lifting for about 4-5 years. I was just wondering could it be my genetics? Most, if not all my relitives were into boxing at one point in time, i do not know if they would have to do anything with my strength? I am about 19 years old, and when i started training i was 145 lbs at 6'2. The highest i ever go to was 220, but now i am 208, and look bigger then when i was 220. I am not trying to show boat, just wondering if this is a genetic thing or no. Any comments would help.

just the fact that you are so young means you gonna make good progress if nutrition and routine are in place.

I am all Natural, my dad said if he caught me doing riods that he would kill me, haha. My nutrition and training are in a good state right now, i was taught at the beggining stages of my training that eating is more then half the battle, and that training is not as important as eating. ALthough it is important! just not as important as eating.

sounds like you got a good frame and a good start...genetics do play a role...take advantage of it brother.....keep at it

Your right about the eating part.

Also, at 6'2, and 208lbs, what is your max bench and squat after 1 year and 8 months of training? Just curious.

hard work and diet are the only thing you really have control over, the rest is either genetics and or, partially genetics. So keep eating and working hard. Of course this is oversimplified but you get the picture.

i am strong in like the smaller muslce groups too, like tris i can do the 100's on the overhead extension for 8 good reps. Bis i can curl the 45's on the ez bar curl. But i also pay close attention to my form to make sure that it is proper.

I'm no expert but I'd say definatly genetics play a role. Some people are probably built better for certain lifts. For example I think my chest and shoulders are naturally weak, I can't even bench 200lbs for 1RM, but for deadlifts I can probably do about 370lbs 1RM. Then a friend of mine can probably do above 200lbs in bench for some reps (he trains like a retard though and works on tug boats which 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off) but he probably couldn't even do 275 for 1 rep in deads, with straps.

Genetics definitely play a role. When I started lifting in football offseason between my 7th and 8th grade years, I 1RM'ed 75lbs on the bench, when some other were being stopped by the coaches at 175+ so they wouldn't hurt themselves. I maxed 215ish beginning my senior in high school, when I had friends my size doing 315+.

I've stayed dedicated when they didn't (worked my ass off since 7th grade to get stronger [did it all wrong], been doing it RIGHT since around the end of my junior year of hs), and now I'm benching as much or more than they could squat. In short, genetics play a big role, but DEDICATION is the #1 deciding factor.

Everything I've got now I've had to work my ass off twice as hard as everybody else to get there. You people with good genetics make me wanna vomit sometimes. :D
