Going to failure when cutting?

When cutting:

On another board somebody posted that you should stay 2 reps short of failure when cutting - also avoid supersets, strip sets, etc.

Do you all believe this is a good idea?

Would it matter whether or not you were using gear to help your efforts?

I usually always go to failure on my last set, cutting or not. Granted if you are doing a show, it may not be a good idea the last couple weeks, as you are so depleted. Alot of guys use super sets when cutting because they can get good intensity with less weight. I don't superset much, i like drop sets better. But you definately have to be careful a little more about overtraining when cutting. This is just my opinion though.

When I'm cutting, I do a hell of a lot of supersets and go to failure on them.

Me too and it seemed to work for me but this guy seems pretty knowledgeable and he said going to failure, super sets and strip sets burns up muscle and puts you at too much risk for injury.

Sounds like at least 2 other bros besides myself (jcp2 and Ahrnold) train to failure when cutting.

When i say cutting i mean decreasing bodyfat, i don't go as low as the the competitors or the really lean guys do, i havent' quite mastered that yet, lol. But on calorie restriction i train to failure, i don't know any other way to train.

I tend to do more supersets too when cutting, but I keep the intensity the same as usual I think its necessary to preserve mass
