Groin Pull on Leg press ???

Today was leg day and all the squat rack were occupied so I decided to start with some leg press. On my final set with 5,000 lbs :D I did something to my groin *. It feels like I may have possibly pulled my groin, but I don't understand how the heck I would achieve that one the leg press. I know that the leg adductors come in to play during this exercise, but if baffels me that this happened. Anyone else ever do something like this?

* Numbers in the thread may or may not be accurate :D

OUCH!!!!

You must have crushed yourself at the bottom of the press. how long did that take to heal?

if you have a wide stance it puts more pressure on the groin. but even with a narrow stance it can pull any muscle envolved in the movement. did you stretch and warm up properly. doin 5000lbs i imagine you did 30 or 40 warm ups sets.

Thats one problem common to bodybuilders, is that we don't include many of our smaller muscle in our training routine. I balance my routine including many stabalizing movements along with mass building exercises.

I could definitely see this happening because the adductor longus acts as a hip extensor once your are flexed past 80 degrees. Therefore it would be really easy to pull on the way down because the adductor longus will be acting eccentrically and if that muscle is shorter than it should then you have a bonified groin pull.

Yeah, that's how I did it! :D Took a few weeks.

How is your injury coming along?

My groin isn't as bad as I thought. I can feel it a little bit today, but nothing major. Maybe next time I will do sets with 4900 instead :D

And try using both legs this time!:D

I had never leg pressed seriously before, so I asked a Personal Trainer at my gym to give me a few quick free pointers, he was nice enough and told me alot about what I need to do to avoid injury.

He told me to not go past a 90 degree angle with my legs, as in dont go all the way down with them because of the change of injury when lifting larger weight. And to make sure your sitting correctly on the press machine, because if you too far up/down that can cause injury as well.

By the way, easto, I would so GANK your avatar if we didn't post on the same board, that is funny as hell!
