It's the second time i'm wondering about my futur guitar.

I like Epiphone as a good brand of E-guitars,

and i'm about to buy a SG model.

or a fender strato, but it's hard because it exist hundred of them and difficult to try all of them.

Sg exist in few model concidering than under 300 bucks is only crap.

my favorit Sg is the sg-400 standard-1966 edition it's alnico humbucker, and nice cherry color.

anybody could advise me on fender strato?

What type of music do you play? Epiphone is to Gibson what Squire is to Fender: a cheap knock-off.

I too have not tested out too many guitars because I'm not that knowledgeable about the different tones and what not. It's all down to what style of music you like. If you are still considering a Strat or SG, join a few of those particular forums and read up on the reviews.

I have an LTD KH-602. Perfect for me, EMG 81's, Floyd Rose Bridge, 24XJ frets and neck-thru design.

I didn't know you play guitar Kane - that's cool!

I'm actually a drummer and use to teach 30-40 students a week ...

But I've played with some great guitarists - in jazz - rock - blues - Latin - heavy metal and so on - and they all had a very unique sound to fit their style.

Just like JOW asks "what kind of music do you play?"

I always look at - what instrument sounds best for your style? :)

not entirely true. squire were made much more cheaply then epiphones are/were. epi's are made by gibson, similar to the way a lexus is a toyota. bit of a role reversal there, but same concept. epiphone was made with slightly inferior wood, yes, and assembled and manufactured overseas, yes, but that doesn't mean it is a piece of shit guitar. squire was pretty low quality.

and i have owned and/or played extensively a WIDE variety of guitars, including squire, japanese and us made fenders (strat, tele) korean and japanese made epis, gibson standard, gibson custom shop, paul reed smith custom, gibson acoustic, martin acoustic, taylor acoustic (my favorite band name acoustic), aria, Ibanez, takamine acoustic/electric, martin 12-string, ernie ball bass, fender bass, fretless jazz bass, ibanez bass. some ukeleles and such.

most of those i've owned. i've been collecting guitars since i was 12 and haven't gotten rid of many over the years except for 11 that i lost in the san diego wildfires in 2003. i've broken 3 and rebuilt them, i've modified several of my "cheaper ones" over the years just for experimentation and such. my squire is pretty bad-ass at this point lol.

i used to repair guitars on the side and did a short stint working as a repair technician with guitar center before i deployed for 3 years straight (basically).

epi sg's are pretty nice. not sure if they are still split between made in japan and made in korea, and i'm sure the gap between the two has narrowed, but the last time i bought an epi i would've payed a bit extra for the japanese version, mostly because of the wood and the binding techniques.

anyway., get an epi sg man, it is a super easy guitar to play. extremely light weight, neck feels a mile long and you can really get fast with it because of how light it is.

i haven't owned one, but a guy i used to play in a band with played sg's exclusively, he had givsons and epis and liked them both. he eventually replaced his humbucker on this epi but that was because it got hit by one of the tuning pegs on our buddies base during a show and got jacked. not jacked like justin bieber either (i.e. not jacked in a GOOD way)

right now i most often play my

I agree, I've been playing for 12 years and have played many different guitars, and it all comes down to what type of music that you play and how experienced you are. Gibson SG and Fender Strat are both awesome guitars and you can get a great sound out of them for many different types of music I prefer those two for Rock or Blues or stuff like that. But if you haven't been playing that long then there really isn't any need to go spend $2500 on a PRS or something, it won't make you sound any better. Just go to the music store and take your time and play a few different ones and you might be surprised. I play hardcore metal so I like the light gage strings and fast action of guitars like Ibanez or Jackson, and I do a lot of harmonics and squeals and shit so I need that floyd rose. Good luck bro!
