HDL bellow the "healthy" level

Hello there,
I was having some issues with my metabolism, whatever I drop in my stomach it sits there all day and I never get hungry. I did some research and came to the conclusion that I may have low HDL which turned out to be true. I dont know the real number of HDL I have because all my lab works showed was (<40 mg/dL). At this moment I have no insurance to see a doctor and ask for meds, so I'm asking you, how do I fix this number? All I saw online was natural things like losing weight (my weight is good) etc.

Exercise helps a lot.

Fish oil can help. Get a good one with high amounts of DHA.

Niacin does increase it. But be aware that there are studies showing that while niacin increases your HDL numbers, it doesn't actually result in healthier outcomes. Make sure you ramp IP your niacin dose very slowly if you use it. It causes flushing which is very painful. Do not take this the very first few times right before you have to go to work or out on a big date. Try it on the weekend. The flushing turns you bright red like a lobster and takes time to pass.

Niacin doesnt sound like something I can get without doctors prescription. Is it common for a GD to prescribe it or will he just wash his hands and send me to an endocrinologist?

Niacin is just a nutritional supplement... you can buy it just about anywhere: supplement stores, drug stores, grocery stores, amazon, etc.

To add to megatron's point about niacin - its awesome at raising hdl BUT it also prevents fat stores from being release from their cells.

Something to be aware of when/if you plan on cutting while using it :)

up your healthy fats and start exercising..

s your hdl is low but the rest of your lipids are within normal range correct???

I'm inclined to believe it could be another issue. I myself have and for as long as I can remember have always had below the range total cholesterol, LDL and HDL and I eat 4250cals a day and still get hungry.
If it sits in your stomach all day, then you have a problem with your digestive system, maybe a food intolerance to what you're eating. Start using probiotics and take Betaine HCL with every meal, this will promote stomach acid and aid in digestion.

MBB I'm the same, my Cholesterol has always been below range, triglycerides normal, HDL has always been just below range but then again my LDL has also been quite low although slightly higher than HDL.

Dbol crashed my HDL and jumped my LDL a bit, hence why I don't use orals. I also have VERY low SHBG, maybe there is some connection.

The link with orals wouldn't surprise me as I think mine is liver related. However, my mum had the same thing for years and it eventually corrected itself. Would love to know the cause though.
