Ok so I'm not good at pullups of either grip and I wanna know a good pullup routine like assisted with a chair or whatever that can help me make some improvements even at home and not in the gym whenever I have some spare minutes because the only way to really get better at pullups is to do pullups. I can only do a couple (2-3) hands in pullups and none hands out. thanks for any and all help and opinions.

GET WORKING ON YOUR PUSHUPS!!!!! Pushups are a major work out an help with pullups. there are many work outs, but push ups is something i would recommend. i can do 13-15 pullups given the day.

Whats up man, when i started doing pullups a couple yrs back i could not do a single one. What i started doing is lat pull downs and rows. Another thing i did was id jump up on the bar and then lat myself down rly slowly. Pullups incorporates other muscles as well not just your back, so its a good idea to workout your shoulders and biceps so you can eventually increase the number of PU you can do.

Try this

Force negatives till fail(letting yourself down slowly)
Rows 4X10
lat pull downs 5x10
pushups 4xfail
dips 4xfail

that was my 1st routine i did it everyother day and within 3months time i was killing them pullups widegrip/close grip/reverse grip you name it.

Keep me posted let me know how it goes.

-happy lifting!

get some bands. and then just do them all the time. Pullups are one of the biggest indicators of upper body strength. So you will need to do the big 3 as well.

But bands are nice cause you progress with each band getting smaller and smaller. Bought em for my wife last year after our son was born, she could only do a couple chins. Now she do over 10 chins and several pullups without any bands.

I love rubber band work outs. I'll usually incorporate them in with bench pressing or push ups here an there. It is definitely one bad ass work out!!!

I 100% disagree with the pushups helping pullups I do them everyday and theyve never helped me do pullups of any kind

then you got some issues. proper pushups at perfect 90* stance, wide body pushups, and acute pushups. you do sets where your doing pushups till you cant no more. take a break then pushups till you cant no more. you should break atleast 100-200 pushups in a work out. doing 30-40-50 isnt going to do shit. and yes... push ups actually do increase your pullups capability. do some research, also... your not suppose to do them every single day. that is over working the section.

From being in the military and doing God know how many pushups a day of all types I have never seen an increase of my pullup abilities and when i say God knows how many I mean well over 100 on an AVERAGE day

um ya i was in before also, so i know how many pushups in a day is given. your not suppose to do the shit tho EVERY SINGLE DAY. that is over working the area, and of course at that route you wont see any gains in pull up capability.

no. get some power bands in different thickness. like these:

Iron Woody Fitness Band - Pull Up Package | Fitness Bands | Gear for CrossFitters | Christian's Fitness Factory

Start with whatever thickness you can do several pullups with some difficulty. As you get stronger, move to the thinner band and so on.

not to shit on the thread or jack it but dude... come on? really?

Sandbag Advanced Package | Sandbags | Christian's Fitness Factory

you can go to a surplus store an pick up a sand bag pack, then go to a menards or something an pick up sand for not even a fraction of that price. thats just idiotic.

i didn't say he needed to buy them there. I would hope in this day and age people would search for deals on the net. I think i paid $30 for my wife's bands last year.
