Help!! Pain when swallowing..

Ok... so this has nothing to do with anabolics, but however, this board gets the most traffic and smartest bros..

Starting yesterday - and worse today - when I eat, I have a horrible pain each time I swallow the food in my mouth.

The pain always hits right above my top layer of abs. Almost directly behind the lower end of the sternum. It is a SHARP pain. I mean, it feels like I can actually feel the food moving down the tube to my stomach and when it hits that area, the food seems to be wrapped in sandpaper.

I have never had heartburn, so I don't know if that is what this is. I have never had an acid problem. I only get this pain when I swallow food or the first sip of soemthing to drink.

Anyone else go through this?

This is definitely something for the Docs or at least someone who has had the same type of problem. Lets keep this bumped up until we get some type of answers.

I am on a business trip for the rest of the week, so I can't get to regular doctor.

This is weird. I have never had indigestion before, so I have no clue to what that is or how it feels.

I am looking at the food I need to keep my weight up at 242 and thinking how it is going to hurt to eat that much today. Getting scared.

You could take a couple of anti acid tablets such as Tums a few minutes before eating. If you still have the pain you'll then have ruled out acid indigestion as the problem.

Possibly hiatal hernia. Not life threatening or anything, but get it checked out. You may also have had non-symptomatic GE reflux.
Could also be a type of esophageal spasm; this can hurt like a bitch!
They're all treatable.

I get something similar when I'm on the road for 3 or more days. It's not painful per se, just a sort of pressure (a lump almost) and I can feel the food going past it. Sorry, no answers for you...

I have been eating about 8 rolaids before meals, to no avail.

There are two types of OTC medicines proven to work against heartburn and indigestion: antacids and H2 blockers. They both reduce the acidity of stomach juices, which reduces irritation of the stomach, duodenum, and esophagus. But remember, neither medicine stops stomach juices from getting back into the esophagus. So it's still important to take all the preventive measures discussed in the last section.

Antacids have the advantage of working very quickly --- you can get relief within minutes. They are also inexpensive. But beware: the dozens of antacids available vary greatly in potency. You have to drink ten times the amount of the weakest antacid to get the same acid-eliminating effect as the strongest antacid! Only high-potency antacids are recommended in our Recommended Products section.

H2 blockers were prescription-only anti-ulcer drugs until recently. Instead of neutralizing acid after it is already formed (like antacids), H2 blockers reduce your stomach's acid production. Since they work much longer than antacids (6-12 hours compared to 1-3 hours), they are only dosed once or twice daily.

Well I am about to eat another meal in 20mins... I will let you guys know how it goes.

I do not have the pain until I swallow food. Sitting here now and for the last 3 hours, I have felt completely normal.

It just feels like when I swallow what is in my mouth, it hits a big speed bump down on the way down in the same spot.

What I found on the net about the hiatal hernia says you feel discomfort when laying on your back or sleeping... often burping...

But that isn't what I go through. Only pain when I swallow.

I do have a journal that I write everything down in. This start the exact same day that I tried a new product.

AAP just go to an ER and wait to see a doc. Don't fuck around.

He will give you a temp script and you will be OK.

Also milk might soothe the burning while eating.

You don't dabble in gay porn do you? Sorry that was uncalled for but it was just too easy. I agree. See a doctor when you can.

Well, I have taken some Pepto twice already and that really helped me get my last two meals down. I am going to try my last meal of the day with no pepto before hand.

This is just very strange. My health has always been amazingly outstanding. I have never had a cavity, a broken bone, the flu, or a headache. So this sort of worries me.
