High calorie intake but still not gaining!

Hey guys, this may come off as a noob post but it's a problem I've been dealing with for a while now and I'm getting discouraged. I'm not looking for diet advice. Literally I eat so much god damn food, even without a PWO meal I don't know how I'm not gaining weight at my caloric level..

Lets just say before the most recent addition to my diet, I'm sitting (as far as what MyFitnessPal shows me) at 4900 calories. The most recent addition yields 140 cal per 1/4 cup! I get 2 cups of that putting me around 6000 before a PWO meal is in the picture. If I workout, it's another 700 calories added to this.

NOTE : I previously went through my cabinets and matched the nutrition facts to the items I used on MFP to ensure the data is correct.

I will admit my training has been shitty the past two weeks, but prior to that my weight gain, and even my on-cycle weight gain was comparably lackluster to my fellow posters here.

I'm fairly fat right now, 20-25% BF on most charts I've seen. Not too upset about that, as I've literally been stuffing my face everyday... totally expected to get fat on my bulk.

I have Hypothyroidism, I take T4.. but I'm beginning to think my doctor has me on an outrageous dose or he's basing my thyroid disorder on a single TSH reading and not FT4, FT3, T3, T4, etc. Could he be treating me improperly and I be eating way too fucking much and just spinning my wheels?

I do have an active job, but I wouldn't say it's as hard as an outdoor construction job or anything.. I basically just build automobiles for 8hrs a day. Slowest cardio possible I think lol

I take 150mcg/daily of LEVOTHYROXINE. I'm 5'8", 197lbs, 24 y.o., 20-25% BF.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated guys! Again, I'm not looking for diet advice.. I can for sure say that I eat more than mother fuckers far bigger than myself. I made this thread in hopes that someone could relate and maybe help me solve this conundrum. Even when I miss a single meal due to sickness, or being out somewhere... I'd still be at 5500-6000 calories for the day. I just don't get it.

Thanks ahead of time fellas!

try not getting bigger i dare you lol
are you eating clean all the time? Not saying eat junk but eat some calorie rich "unclean food" dont do that without tren though :)

Yes to both of you. I get a cheat meal of choice every week, 3 gainer shakes on top of my daily calories mentioned above per week and I'm not carb cycling. High macro diet! All the macros I should say!

Also be patient bro best muscle is built in years shoot for 10lbs in a year with aas obviously. I dont know what gear you use but some steroids dont work well with higher bf been there done that

I think I've been pretty patient honestly. I wouldn't have posted a thread searching for answers if I hadn't been working on it myself beforehand. Don't take that the wrong way either.

When I drop 2lbs after INCREASING my caloric intake by 1000 calories, there's more than just grinding it out needed to help me. At the very least I feel like I should still see 1/4lb a week...not weight loss at 6000+ calories. I'm not gigantic, and shouldn't require this much food. In fact, if anything you'd think I'd lean out too, considering I can't stay in a surplus.. IDK..

I'm just annoyed with it. My drive is low cause I feel like, aside from the 15-20lbs of steroid induced muscle.. I haven't really been capable of putting on size naturally.

Maybe I'll stop my medication after speaking to my GP about it, and then have an appointment scheduled with an endocrinologist to get a more accurate picture of my hormone levels.

Keep the advice coming! Criticism is welcome of course, I ain't no bitch!

197, I'm 5'8, and sitting around 20-25% BF

Yes, I did a cycle of test. Before and after I had troubles gaining without eating to this degree!

Has to be ********* issues right? I can't think of any other culprit than being over medicated by T4.. I may not even need that shit to be honest, I feel like I know more on the subject than my doctor sometimes.. at least more up to date practices on diagnosis.

Dude dont expect to get bigger as in muscle, get back on test and whatever else, esting like that natty just ginna put on fat

This doesn't make any sense.

With your stats, you should be increasing the scale at 4,000 cals.
Even if we assume that your t4 dose is too high, or maybe your test hasn't fully recovered, or some other meta-bolic/endocrine issues - at 6,000 cals you would still be gaining weight.
Hyperthyroidism (too much thyroid activity) doesn't wipe out 2,000 cals.

I suggest taking this week to track your macros METICULOUSLY - have a food journal and count everything your eating. This is an easy way to determine that its not because of inadvertent undereating.

Once we can officially rule out inconsistent tracking of calories/macros, then I recommend a full thyroid panel along with the usual post cycle tests to see if their are any issues with your t4 dosing and whether you've really recovered properly from your cycle.

Why the hell are trying to gain weight at 20-25%BF ?!?!?! Why the hell is 3J allowing you to cycle and eat for gains at that BF%!!!!!!

What the fuck am I missing here guys? You should be focused on fat loss. Being that overweight you won't even see any gains on the scale because your potential to carry water at different degrees is huge with that much fat. You could easily fluctuate 5 pounds in a day with different carb and sodium intake. So how could you judge if your gaining any weight unless your doing BF measurements like every 3 days. Which also does not make sense.

I am really praying 3J chimes in here with some holy grail knowledge because right now I am thinking he is just gonna take anyone's money for coaching. Why the hell are you asking us if you hired the so called master of diet prep.

You should be cycling carbs and eating at a 300 cal deficit or at least maintenance until your around 15% then you can think about gaining body weight.

Did I read all this wrong? I am seriously scratching my head over here guys. Someone please clue me in.

Let's clear a little of this up.

1. I can't put down the food I eat because I'd be giving away 3Js business right?

2. I'm not on cycle anymore. If I didn't mention that, my bad that would make sense as to why you're getting hastey with me. I've been off cycle for 6 weeks as of today, off of PCT for nearly 3 weeks... when I started I was 183 and under 20%bf (probably 15-17%) this was 4 months ago.

3. I can list macros. Give me a few to check into it. I have it logged for my day to day meals.. cause I pretty much eat the same everyday. Have a very tight routine I adhere to.

4. As Ripped said.. I should be gaining at 4k and right now I'm having trouble MAINTAINING 200LBS eating 6k. The goal right now is to maintain.. but when I drop two lbs, a lb.. and I'm eating way the fuck over what I'm supposed to be.. I have to get back to the weight I was and try to hold it. Hope that makes sense..

Get on the juice makes no sense to come off a cycle and now your still trying to add mass when your weak

So to summarize that.

I'm OFF cycle, attempting to maintain weight, meaning I'm in a caloric surplus.. BUT, the problem is that I shouldn't have to eat this fucking much to do it!!

Lemme get these macros for y'all.. this will be interesting for ya.

Also, I literally wrote in all my meals I take in day by day and ran the numbers.. that's the whole reason I'm posting this, the numbers are ridiculous.. and I'm searching for a reason as to why I can't gain when I'm leaner, and I can't maintain post cycle!! That's it!

I'm not even maintaining. Not even about gaining.. I shouldn't have used that word.. everyone getting all crazy here lol
