On Vacation
I'm bored at work and figured this should drudge up some good conversation since I'm sure everyones tired of the "this is my first cycle, why does it suck" threads.

So, there is a poll attached for my benefit, but I'm curious as to what you guys are doing and why. I'm a low volume guy by nature, but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with high volume. Actually i would say I'm right in the middle now and it really depends on the intensity of that workout that day, and what muscle i am working. Some days 5 sets of 10 with 315 on squats and I am crawling outta the gym like a baby.

Here's what I consider low volume and high volume.

Low - 5-8 worksets per muscle group
High - 12-16 worksets per muscle group.

I don't want this turning into a bash session cause there is no right or wrong here. I'll have the Mods close it if that happens. I just thought it would illicit some good responses and a healthy debate. So make sure you tell us why you like it, if you change up and how often, how many sets, etc.

Honestly for me it all depends on the muscle group, if it is a large muscle i try to go heavier and keep my reps/sets low, if it is a smaller muscle like bis or delts i go for volume and don't focus on strength as much.

I think it depends and both can work. IMO intensity will determine the outcome and what works.

BTW I chose High Volume, the last couple weeks ive been throwing in Super Sets, Giant Sets, and a little more volume, keeping gym time the same but upping the intensity and I feel like Ive seen some of my best gains ever.

Same ^^^^.
.Differant muscle group differant approach..
Throw in what is hurting that day and I m just glad to be in the gym some day s !!!
12 sets for big one s
6-9 for lil one s
8-12 reps most of the time ...again...for pain.
Example- I can rep 225 for 14 -15 on a good day at a bdywt of 200 pd s..and 275 may go up 1 to 8 time s ..and maybe scrub the rest of my workout.

I mix it up. Right now I'm doing low volume (5x5 program). I've been on that for like a month, once I finish I'll go back to higher volume for a while. I feel like I accomplish more with higher volume, but sometimes I have a tendency to over do it.

I love high volume workouts if 12 sets is considered high volume. I get great results and it makes the gym enjoyable for me, its a passion. I am all for what gets people in the gym, if people dont enjoy working out then they most likely wont pump pump pump it up........................just my 2 cents though

low volume heavy weight. When i build a big enough base-i will add more volume-and isolation exercises

it took everything i had not to vote for the naked pics of 3j

I always got good results with low volume and high intensity, but I like to keep my workouts between 1 hour and an hour and a half, so I usually do pretty high volume. 16 sets per muscle group and I work 2 groups a day!

low volume, start out with heavy weight low reps(6-12) then as the day goes move to lighter weight higher reps(15-20 very slow) depending on muscle do anywhere from 5-9 exersices one group a day. Tend to use machines towards end of workout (ie... tricep pull downs, chest flies) and free weights in the begining(ie...skull crushers, flat bench, I workout in a small gym by myself and rarely is anyone else there, so prefer the heavier things first so im not worryin bout weights fallin on me, and I dont think I would give it my all if I was worried about that.
