i have done my fair share of injections, but my friend recently asked me to inject for him since he was new to it, he didn't have all that much meat on him, i used a 22 1/2 inch gauge needle, and i injected in the shoulder, as putting the needle in, the needle came to a dead spot and it was hitting his bone... anyone know how bad this is ?

please tell me he isnt doing steroids when hes skinny enough for a 1/2 inch long needle to hit the bone.

Haha yea, hope it was a typo...

OP-
Also, I wouldn't let anybody pin myself except myself!..or a cute nurse or somebody with a phd..

I hope it's not a bad thing, but it sure sounds like one..and gives me tingles down my spine just thinking about it

lol hes actually not "skinny" hes in good shape, hes got the lean body type...thats why i was surprised when i hit the bone and i did it to myself just prior and my friend and absolutely no problems

if hes lean / skinny enough for a 1/2 inch needle to hit the bone then he needs groceries and NOT steroids.

22g 1 1/2 inch** my bad

big difference lol

1 inch needle for the delts and 25 guage is what i reccomend . if you wont buy the right needle at least cut the cover tube down to about 1/2 inch long and put it back on the needle , this will prevent going any deeper.

Good advice! I wish i'd thought of that when i didnt have the right size pins.

That made me cringe big time when I read the title. And I would have definately felt out his delt to c how deep the bone is, especially if he is that skinny. I cant imagine it did any real damage but it sounds very uncomfortable.

Hey DADAWG, thats a great idea, I always had to eyeball it when I used 1.5"s but then finally switched to 1". That would trip me the F out hitting the bone though, glad thats never happened.

he won't have any issues with you hitting the bone, just don't make a habit of it. he shouldn't of had any pain. i hope u pulled back though before u injected, either way it is near impossible to inject into the joint via a lateral approach.

old school from back when needles were a lot harder to come by.

yeah it freaked me out when i felt it hit the bone lmao, i pulled out just a bit before i injected it tho

I thought it was a typo. i mean if you really think about it how lean would one have to be to hit bone in the shoulder with a 1/2"..... prob like on the verge of dieing skinny.....

sometime when I pin my glute it feels like im hitting a nerve or something but its probably just not going in 100% straight cause when I back out a little bit and relax and proceed it feels okay. Are there any other nerves in your ass besides the sciatic?
