how hard do you push yourself?

My fondness memory of training is when I was training for racing, arenacross, it is a shorter course in smaller arenas hence the name arenacross ha, around 15 minute races, it is a full blown sprint race, the track gives you no areas to take a break unlike supercross or outdoor tracks. I was doing crazy sprint drills and pushed so hard I passed out a few times. There is something weird that I liked the fact I would push myself so hard, that the next thing I know I am picking myself off the ground dazed and confused. In the gym I don't push as hard because I don't want to get injured, but when it comes to cardio I go until I can't anymore.

Go hard or go home. On the verge of puking is always fun.

OP - Do you still race? I raced District 5 MX for many many years and raced loretta lynns several times. Still like the dirt stuff but now tracking a sport bike is wayyyy too much fun.

Well I just about superset everything heavy after a good warm up. As far as passing out with motocross which I've been around a lot of racing seeing im a auto painter. It always seem racers want to be as light in weight as possible and they get dehydrated which would explain the passing out bc its so intense. When I lived in atlanta they have tracks everywhere and some big names would show up in the heat of summer and looked like they were about to pass out. And honesty u would have to put on ur gear and train to get that pass out feeling but that's not a good idea...lol

I started doing isolation movements first before big compound lifts. It was a leg day and first time switching it up like that. Finished off with squats, kinda...ha ha! I put a 45 on each side and said fuck it. I knew my legs were hash already and were shaking as I set up under the bar. Got it off, went down and never came back up lol! I was done. Good thing I always set the safety bars in the rack.

Used to go to failure all the time but not any more IMO you have to leave a little in the tank for your next workout to be strong

I race here and there in the local pro class for fun now. I am a trainer for other pro riders now, so I focus more on that aspect of it. What class did you race in lorettas? I really want to get a CBR600 and build it to the moon. I love riding sport bikes, I love the feeling of going well over 100 mph through a turn, dragging the side of your shoes on the pavement and looking at your tires after and not having those chicken strips everyone has haha!

Well it's a horsepower to weight game. The bikes can only get so fast, and a guy who weighs 140 will have more power than someone who is 160. Motocross is all about complete body conditioning. Cardio is the single biggest thing a racer needs to have to be good. Races last around 40 minutes in the outdoor series, and it's in the summer. Last year one of a bigger named pro had a heat stroke and passed away during a race. I always tell someone who has never ridden on a rough track before, to imagine jumping on a bull for 40 minutes, and you just begin to understand how a motocross bike acts like. Now throw in the fact that you have 25 lbs plus of gear on, and a 250 lbs bike under you that you have to throw, push, pull, lift, etc for the entire race all the while your heart rate is between 170 and 200 the whole time, and you start to understand how hard it is to race a national caliber track.
