How Heavy?

Just wondering how heavy some people go on flat bar curls, preacher curls, ez curl bar, and skull crushers. Do you every feel pain from the flat bar curls.
 
heavy is relative..for BB'ing purposes i kept my reps in the 6-8 range..occasionally i would do sets of 10 to change things up
 
I understand heavy is relative I just want to hear numbers. A guy I know is feeding me full of crap. Just dont believe his numbers and I wanted to kind of find an average.

what kind of #s are you talking . ive seen a guy i know very well do skull crushers with 225 for reps strict

theres always some guy someone knows that has huge numbers whether its true or not does not matter..what matters is you..if you squat 500 for a 1rm but constantly work with 250-300 your not squatting heavy..im not saying everything needs to be done for a 1rm..my point is it dont matter what someone elses numbers are just improve yours and you will grow!!
 
I remember Lou Ferrigno doing sets of 5, I think, in incline curls with 100 lb dumbbells in Pumping Iron. I thought that was pretty impressive.
 
The record for straight bar cheat curls last I heard was Kaz, 10 reps @ 315. I prefer dumbells these days or EZ bar.

I dont go super low reps, but for straight bar when I did them I went to 125 pounds and really no higher, I dont like them that much. EZ bar about the same, on a Scott/Preacher bench maybe 10 pounds less. I prefer the freedom of the dumbell momements, which is rare for me to say but with stress from back work my tendons want any relief possible.

I hammer with 90-100 and curl with 60-65s for 7-10 reps, 4 sets total maximum.
 
Kinda what I figured. This guy I am talking about says he hasnt lifted for about 6 months but the other day grabbed 185 on barbell and repped it out. Says he used to do 225 lbs skull crushers. The guy is maybe 210 and his arms at their biggest were 17" but are smaller now. Funny thing is his max bench he claims was 330, now you would think if he is skull crushing 225 his bench would be bigger. I probably bench 310 and I do skull crushers 3x8 with 95lbs, no way in hell I could do 225. I dont think many others do either.

Just take him to the gym with you and hand him a 185 lb barbell and ask him to rep it out for ya :D
 
Wonder why nobody likes to talk about the weight they use but are full of advice. I know weight is relative but I would listen more to a guy lifting twice what I lift rather than a guy who lifts half of what I lift. Just that simple.
 
i dont curl. so there. but when i did the most i did for straight bar with strict form was 125 for sets of 8. curls are so easy to cheat on. i seen guys doing 135 and throwing the weigt up. after i showed them the proper way 85lbs was kicking thier ass. one guy posted he was curlin180 for reps on this board. i mean what kinda number is 180. anything ending in a 0 is a odd number in the gym. i mean 185 is a lot easier to load than 180. but anyway if i cheated i could do some heavy weight too. whats the point. no body is impressed with a big curl. big squats, deads and bench is impressive. or a guy dipping with a bunch of weight hanging off him is impressive. ed coan said bis are like christmas ornaments.
 
I was curling 155 for 6-7 reps when I did straight bar. I was 210 and my bi's were a tad over 17". So, i think your buddy might be lying to you. I was also only skullcrushing 120 for 5 reps. Definatly bs from that guy.

I see my best gains when using loose form with curls. I just tried to curl the most weight without really bending back too badly. I used a "natural" motion rather than forcing my body to do something too strict. Some will disagree, but you gotta let the gains speak for themselves. Come to think of it, theres a lot of naysayers in the my gym when it comes to that type of training for bi's. Yet these guys are much smaller than me, to each his own.

well like i said i dont curl. :D cheaters never win dougy. i got 19" guns relaxed just from indirect bi work. the only reason i know how big they are is because i had to measure up for a new bench shirt last year. damn maybe if i do some bi/cleans i could have some real monsters. lololololol

as far as chicks digging big arms the ones i met dig my huge anaconda more. a fat johnson and a long tongue is where its at baby. sides i would rather be strong than look strong any day. but most guys who are strong look strong. ya wit me? :D

Hey, I'm all for being strong. But tossing in some curls to help with aesthetics isn't going to hurt anything :D I've done compound lifts, but apparently they don't work my arms too well. My back has taken off and my bis are still the same. Time to add the isolation to fix that.

On an incline bench I have gone to 150 on ez bar behind the neck tri extentions, haven't done heavy skulls on a flat bench in awhile, I bench an even 400 FWIW.

i got no prob with folks doin bis. I am starting anew training routine this week and yes i will be doing bis and calves. shock. hey i did some shrugs yesterday after rack pulls. thats the first time doing shrugs in at least 3 years. I dont know what is coming over me. I may be turning inot a BBer. NO............

but youy know what? if my wife didnt object so strongly i would love to diet down and do 1 show, just so i said i did it. I prolly be shredded at 250-260.

anyway you guys curl away.
