I usually wait about 5 minutes of heavy bench and squat days. But for the rest of the stuff about 3 minutes. My friend wanted me to post this to see the reaction b/c he believes in waiting about a minute or you go i go. But i believe that on heavy compound movments that it takes the support muscles longer to recover from a heavy set.

thats a loaded question , when training for pure strength longer waits between sets allows for heavier lifting , but this does nothing for your conditioning . it all depends on your goals

I used to wait 3 mins but tried giant sets over the summer and loved it conditioning wise...seemed to lose b/f on that routine...took about 2-3 mins in-betwen each giant set.

goin for strength and bulk now....3-4 mins between each single set.

It depends on how I'm working out. If I was doing powerlifting, then I'd wait about 3-4 minutes... But when doing strength training which i do most, i usually go from 1-2 minutes. But most of the time it depends on how i feel,,,, i don't even usually try to look at the clock too much, but i know it's usually 1-2 minutes because i add up the number of sets and reps and how long i was at the gym for... Depends on the exercise and how far into the workout i am too i guess...

but that's just me,

Keep humping and keep pumping.

Stopwatch says 1:20 so about 90 seconds. I used to do 2 minutes.

For the heavy leg stuff and deadlifts I run about 3 minutes.

Well if I am doing chest heavy with upward of 315 then I go to 3 to 4 minutes. Or legs really heavy on squats i take about the same. But on arms, shoulders, and back i take about a 1:30 so that isn't bad then. I was just wondering cause for the longest time i took forever like 5 minutes between all sets but that's only because i was a powerlifter first and that's all i knew. But thanks for the imput.

60 to 90 sec. tops with upper body, and no more then 2 min with legs. I like to move through my training. If I wait too long between sets I feel like I'm wasting time.

About 3 weeks, i am on HIT. :) In all seriousness if depends, probably five minutes between deads and heavy presses. Less on everything else. Maybe 3 on everything else. I tend to wait longer when i have a partner, when i don't i tend to not wait long enough. :)

I use different rest periods at different points of my training routine.. By simply switching rest periods every so offten...u'll notice ur strenght will increase and the gains will just keep coming...

yeah i vay that alot. some times i wait like 45 seconds. i like to fuck with my muscles. as much as possible.

1 minute or less when training by myself. When training with a partner when he's done I go.

I train with the same rest interval regardless of heavy or light day. I have trained this way for years and had great results. If I use a longer rest interval I lose ineterest in working out.

I'm not gonna vote on that'n b/c I usually wait 1-2 minutes on upper body heavy compound movements and 2-3 on lower body. On more isolation type movements, I try to wait no longer than 75 seconds.

I'm a powerlifter. So 3-5 minutes on the heavy compounds (squat, deadlift, sldl, etc), and 1-2 minutes on the smaller assistance stuff (rows, tricep work, abs, etc).

I only lift heavy for strength, so i generally wait 3-5 minutes betwwn sets..to get the atp or whatever the hell it is called to get all the way back up there...
