How many you do Clean and Presses?

This exercise is rarely talked about but seems it would be very effective for overall mass. I quess you would have to cut back on the deads or squats during the week to do them though?

Exactly, I do them about once a month usually on a Sunday and then that's all I do on that day. They are a great addition to a workout but some gyms freak out when you start doing them.

My only concern is form on this exercise. Last time I did them it was a little un-comfortable with the press. I pulled it to the waist reasted quick sec, then up on the shoulders, rest a quick sec. But then the press that's a killer. I gotta work on keeping my back real straight no swaying but it's hard on this exercise.

Are they good for overall mass Huskyguy? You only do clean and press on one day and no other exercises? How many set's and reps?

Start off with light weight and get the form down. I think the reason so many people do not do these anymore is that the risk of injury is high when form is bad.
I think they are a good overall mass builder, not as good as deadlifts or squats but right up there nonetheless. I like them because they really get me breathing heavy and it is difficult to keep good form, that's the challenge and that's where a lot of the benefit lies.

I think clean and presses might be OK for mass, but that they have a bigger benefit on your CNS. You can develop explosive power which will increase your vertical jump, sprint speed, and general athletic ability.

when i do em i start off the floor like a dead snatch quik and throw my hips under the bar kinda of a bump on my upper thighs which throws the bar out and up then pullin up like an upright row then start the squat while rollin the hands back to your upper chest rest it there and stand tall then press over head.it is very taxing harder than any other movement out there! i have not done them in oh about a year i would rather pull deads any day,and we all know how hard a dead day can be!

Do you guys start the clean movement like a deadlift?

sort of... i use more legs just to get that initial explosion upwards.... my grip is usually a little bit wider too
