can someone tell me what excersises work best for thicker traps? my traps are growing pretty good from the front view but not so good from side view. let me know, thanks.

Do lots of deadlifts.

I don't have big traps and I don't do deadlifts, but all the big guys with big traps do them at my gym.

What i like whith traps, is one time you got it big enough, you don't need train it every weeks to keep the size...

they r never big enough!

of corse they could, i got to big rear-dealt and to big traps... i tokk off my pix now, but it was the genral critics whe i posted it. and it was not good, who wnat to look as a bull...

Irony... by stopping to train them. my shoulders went slowly but certainly weak, and finaly i got harsh injury at bench.

After your regular back workout do heavy behind the back BB shrugs!!!!!! They work big time!

Hell Yea Gator good advice man. I just did three sets of behind back shrugs for the first time yesterday after working back and it gave me a great pump. I need to PM you though or maybe you read this. I tried doing them in my power rack and i couldnt get real good for probably cause my ass is kinda big from so many heavy deads and squats over the yrs. . I switched and did them on my smith machine and was able to control my form. Fuckin awesome exercise i dunno why i ever tried this in the past.

you ever have problems with your ass getting in the way>? I tried em for a little bit but it was always rubbing my ass the wrong way.

thats the problem i had baldie. when i switched to the smith machine it was a lot easier. i know people myself included knock the smith but it worked well for this exercise.

Both versions of the barbell shrug are effective for building the traps, as they both hit them from a slightly different angle, which builds different muscle fibers. For balanced traps developed from all angles, include both versions in your trap-training program. To build bigger/higher upper traps, the barbell shrug to the front is the winner. To build thicker traps and to hit the middle portion of them, the behind-the-back barbell shrug is a better choice.

shitty deal....that's the one machine my gym doesn't have for some reason.
