dont put it in your left quadricep! midway on top! you will want to be careful as there are many nerves in your left leg and you will know if you hit one! i use emla cream in case i hit a nerve and have to take another shot! 1" needle all the way! its more controlled as you can see what your doing and makes it easer to aspirate!

For all the newb's.

From everything that I've read the glutes are the best place for an IM injection. Something about great absorption, and getting the most from an IM injection(followed by the delts). Also it's relatively painless. You can give it to yourself (most can), and nerves are all bundled in one spot, so you just avoid going right in the middle. And little to no chance of hitting any kind of blood vessle. It's so easy I can do it left handed.
