Dude, if your pain is shooting down your legs, especially all the way down to your calves, then you probably screwed it up pretty good. Slipped disk, herniated, there are so many different things you could have done. You will probably need a MRI to really tell. Believe it or not there are places that will do a MRI of one location for fairly cheep.
Go to your family doctor, or a general doctor and tell him what happened. They will most likely give you some pain meds like vicodin or a non narcotic pain killer like Ibproferen 800mgs and send you out for a MRI, skip the XRAY it is a waste of money. You will pay 50-150 bux for a xray, if something shows up they will send you out for a MRI anyway so fuck it... If something DOESN'T show up there STILL could be something wrong with your back so they will still send you for a MRI in that instance.
Tell them you need a CHEAPER option for the MRI, and there are places that will do it for $400-$500. Don't get it done at a hospital because they are usually more expensive. If you have to call around, open the phone book and look under MRI in yellow pages. Get prices, there are cheaper places. Go to the cheapest.
So in all, $70 for the doctor and $400 for the MRI. Don't let the damn doctor give you a Xray just tell them you want a MRI. Get your meds filled (max $50 bucks), be careful with them if they give you a narcotic like Vicodin they are very very fucking addictive. Take them ONLY when you need to. (I was addicted to them after a surgery)
To be honest with you, if you did fuck a disk you could be living with this the rest of your life. I know people that have been on pain meds for YEARS. If you do end up having a permanent problem, try to manage your pain without a narcotic pain reliever. The narcotic pain relievers are not good for you, you will build a tolerance for them and you will most likely become addicted to them i you take them alot.
If you need anything else let me know.
