I have only 1 kidney and lots of ?'s

In september of 2001 I wrecked my motocross bike and had to have a MRI. The MRI revealed that I had a lacerated spleen and...only 1 kidney. Ever since then I've been very apprehensive about using anabolics, understandably so. According to the doctor, my right-side kidney has shriveled down and is basicly dead. The left-side kidney has grown to twice it's normal size to compensate for the other one. Apparently, this is a somewhat normal condition and approxiamatly 2-3% of the population are in the same boat, most just don't know it.

Prior to being aware of the kidney issue, I did 2 seperate (1 year apart) cycles of oral D-bol with excellent results. Currently, I am interested in doing another cycle but I don't want to do it if I would be endangering my health. Any doctor I talk to just gives me the "Steriods are bad, mmmkay" lecture. I need some solid advice from some real professionals. any input is appreciated.

Side note: I've had this issue on my mind since September of 2001 but have not had any place to research it. I found this forum 2 days ago and it is an absolute godsend. Keep up the good work!

I don't see any Dr. condoning the use of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) on his watch in your case.

The last thing you need is a kidney transplant because you wanted to get big....

Buff and DrVJ11 ?

quick acting steroids actually stress the kidneys more because of the rapid turn over. You should be better with Enath , EQ or deca.

Bump for an answer from the docs. I would think that as long as you keep properly hydrated you may be able to run a low dose of a mild anabolic. Mabey a light test cycle or an eq cycle. I am no doc so we can let them answer this.

why would quick acting steroids cause more stress than slower ones? can you explain this one cause I dont udnerstand? not a flame

I would think dbol woould be a no no because it is supposedly more toxic. you might want to make sure your blood pressure stays low cause that can stress the kidneys as well.

ive read about this, how one kidney will grow to take over the work of the other one. what i read said only 80% though. im not sure how as really affect kidneys, but id be real carefull about high protein diets and high blood pressure. kidney damage can sneak up on you real slow, get some urine test strips if you want to live the lifestyle. watch out for protein in the urine.

remember, bitches come and go, but nephrons are for life!

bump for docs

bump for the docs also....
A friend of mine gave a kidney to his mom. the guy is more susceptible to sickness and has to take meds still. its been like 8 months. so u definately dont wanna do the transplant thing bro...
bump again for the docs....................

Im not a DR. and im not pretending to be. But I remmeber reading it from some literature. That a fast acting steroid that converts fast will produce more toxic and stress on the body than a long acting steroid that converts in a more slower and stable manner like the enaths and deca compared to Fina, Dbol, prop, or suspensions. Good luck

Urine strips are a good idea! Can you point us in the right direction so we can get a hold of them. thanks!

I recently came off a wintstrol only cycle and had high urea and creatinine. not sure if it was from Winstrol (winny) or what. but I am getting follow up done. I am off now and will stay off till I figure out what is wrong. the levels were just outside the normal range. does any body think that is from the Winstrol (winny)? And if I am off do you think these levels will go back to normal?

I would think if you only have one kidney you shouldnt take steroids.

Also, how did your kidney fail? From your accident, or from unknown cause?

I'm not sure how the kidney failed, but it wasn't from the accident. It was just noticed when they did the CAT-scan for my lacerated spleen.

The accident was actually a blessing in disguise. I still wouldn't know that I only had one kidney if I wouldn't have gotten hurt so badly.

Any docs got to this yet?
