I think I have a case of forearm tendonitis

So, every time I work my arms my left forearm gets shooting pain from the elbow to the hand. This has been going on for over a year, but the pain keeps getting worse.

I believe I had a slight muscle tear or tendon tear because I heard a pop and had a burning pain about a year ago.

Today, I tired to train my arms, but was unsuccessful, the pain was to great. I had a tingly left had when I stopped.

I don't have any pain or anything when I'm sitting or even using my left arm. I only have pain when I'm lifting heavy.

I'm going to stop training my arms for awhile.

I'm really hoping that I don't need surgery, since I won't be able to do anything about it until next fall.

Any info will be great.

Thanks.

I'd check with two people: a physio therapist and an md. The physio can tell you if its tendons or muscles, and from there you can decide what treatments might work for you.

Really hard to say what it is. Could be a combination of a number of things. You mention you get a sharp pain. As soon as I hear that, I think of nerve damage which from the sound of it has become chronic. I suspect the burning sensation is due to tendonitis, but to say with 100% certainty it's the forearm is hard. It may be originating form your elbow or even the wrist. Schedule an appt. to see a doctor whether it's MD or DO (I prefer DO's personally) but in the meantime REST your arm. Take some ibuprofen to alleviate inflammation and stick to the RICE method.

R - Rest forearm
I - ice forearm for about 15 mins or so at a time
C - compress the area lightly off and on
E - elevate forearm to decrease pain

hope this helps!

What was your end result? I researched this intensely since last summer. I barked at my doc because we were debating what my issues were. She was saying Tennis Elbow, and I was saying "I know wtf Tennis Elbow is, and this is NOT Tennis Elbow!". 8 months later I turned out to be right. I was diagnosed with Golfer's Elbow by two Sports Medicine Docs.

If your pain is from the outside of your elbow you have Tennis Elbow. If it's from the inside of your elbow (like mine) you have Golfer's Elbow.

The sooner you recognize it, the sooner you rest it and treat it, the better chances of recovery for you.

Usually it never goes away. Most result in cortisone steroidal injections to alleviate the pain. but this is short term, and in long term will make problem worse by weakening and detatching your tendons and ligaments further from the joints.

I'm going to be paying an arm and a leg but I've narrowed it down to Prolotherapy and Physiotherapy for 3-4 months. Prolotherapy consist of healing injections (no side effects) and many athletes swear by it. I'll give it a go, if it turns out well I'll let you knwo if you're interested. Something you might want to consider.

REST!!! Just because you dont feel the pain anymore or lesser now does not mean you are better. Rest rest and rest. You can make that shit real worse and you wont even know its getting worse. Look into physio.

Scars is right bro, I had the same problem years back and it is golfers elbow if the pain is on the inside. Still to this day my elbow will pop hard during push ups, I have to stop and rub it then it kind of {lossens up sorry I cant spell lol} Do what scars said bro

I had the samed problem and eventually saw a sports doc. We all thought it was the tendon until an MRI showed up that it was actually the Ulnar nerve, or cubital tunnel. basically there is a cavaty around the elvow ehere the nerve travels through and can become inflammed. Im convinced its the arm weights, probably biceps more than tris.

Solution - I'm due to go in for a shot of cortisone via ultrasound for accuracy.

OMG, I know what you mean. My elbow has been hurting for a year now. I work through normally but there are some excersises that I cant do like upright rows. It constantly hurts mostly on the outside of the elbow. It sounds like yours is much worse like you said it could be nerve damage. Go see a doc would be best especially if its sharp pains like that. Good luck Bro. Ill check back on this thread to see what happens with you.

Got the shots, but they were only temporary help for me. I ended up with two tendinitis surgery's on both elbows.

It has been around eight years since the second surgeries. Get some pain once in awhile, but nothing like before.

Orthopedic doc helped me the best
