ice or heat for elbow pain?

duey

awesome!!
im still having pain in my outer elbow, and upper forearm just below my outer elbow that i think is the tendons hurting. wondering what would be better, icing it or soaking in hot water with epsom salt.

Most likely tennis elbow / lateral epicondylitis which is basically tendon inflammation. A brace/splint, NSAIDS(aleve/naproxen or ibuprofen - if you dont already have GI issues for no more than a few weeks), ice(20 min a couple times day) and rest on that arm(caused by excessive wrist extension and forearm pronation) is the most common treatment. If it doesnt resolve in a few weeks after that, go see your primary doctor.

Ice at least 4x times a day for the first 3 days (no more than 15 mins each time or you get some rebound effect)
Then after you can switch to cold/heat ;)
