Just got done with my first show this past weekend. Even though I didn't place it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The friendliness of everyone there was amazing. I met some really great people and shared some good laughs. All the hard work and sacrifice was totally worth it. I learned a lot as far as judging biases go and what they look for. Everyone felt like a brother there and helped each other with tips on posing and prep options. Just get out there and do it is all I have to say. You won't regret it one bit.

would love to do this and will as soon as I find a 20-25% bf division ;) or get my shit together, which ever comes first lol

seriously though I'd like to do this and have hear similar experiences to yours more often than not. I think I'm going to pick out a show maybe 1 year from now and set it as a goal to try and be 10%bf by then and give it a try...

Sounds like you had a great time! Bet the adrenaline was pumping at first. Post some pics

I planned on doing 1 and ended up doing 9 of them........gives you a reason to stay extremely dedicated year round.

Conditioning was way off. I peaked at 2 weeks out and then never was able to drop the water back off. Oh well still loved it. I'll be doing bodybuilding in the next few not physique like this past one or maybe both who knows.

you look great man, but did they make you leave the misc because you actually lift now?

Do they have a 30% bf competition anywhere? Great job I want to do one before i die for sure just to say I did it. Well see what happens. You look really good sucks you didn't place.

One is when I started 18 weeks out. The other was 2.5 weeks out and is what I was hoping to look like when I hit the stage. My body had other plans. Lol It's very doable you just have to want it bad enough. Set your goal and don't let anything stop you on your way. I worked 7/12s 12 out of the 18 week prep I did. It was rough but doable.

Doing a show seems like a str8 up nightmare. It's like people who do marathons or ultra marathons on a regular basis only difference is at least they can eat whatever they want for the most part. I am not hating, but 12-16 weeks of competition dieting aint for a brother like me.

That's the part that makes it so worth it. Mine Wasn't That Bad until About 3 Weeks out. Cardio 3x a week 4 max and never went below 200 carbs until the last 2 weeks. No great rewards come from something easy. The challenge is what makes it worth it when you finish your goal.

im contemplating at doing a show next year.

Once ive bulked to around 240lbs. Im gonna hire 3j to get me down to 200ish and see where i stand.

Go for it man! You won't regret it. I started out at 246 in October and hit the stage in late may at 205. I won't dirty bulk again though. I'm gunna try and stay as lean as possible this off season and hopefully add 10-20lbs if I'm lucky.

exactly... cus why would you lift and diet when you could be not lifting or dieting? I think you are on the wrong forum man...

I think there is a big difference between eating healthy the majority of the time and lifting with consistency than eating like somebody is paying you to model. I've been on a cut for longer than i care to admit right now but i am doing so out of vanity. 100% of all gym goers will tell you working out is the easy part and diet separates the mice from men. I am proud mouse. I don't follow this str8 edge philosophy that a lot of ex- substance addicts turned industry fitness folks believe where you never drink alcohol, you never have refined sugar and you never get less than 7.5 hours of sleep. I am a moderation guy.

I started at 230, was 205 by the time I hit the stage...lighter than I wanted to be at 6' so I entered MPD. It was a great experience though.

That pushed me to get bigger so I could do what I originally intended this year (BB) and hit 245ish during the offseason...can't wait to step on stage in posing trunks instead of board shorts this time :)

I would try but Im covered in tattoos and I guess it might be a problem, can you cover them with the fake tan tho?

That's what I'm aiming for. Wish I would have done bodybuilding this time though. For my hight 5'10 I easily outweighed everyone in physique there by 15-20lbs.
