Injection site infection question?

Does redness around an injection site automatically mean infection? It's not really swollen and not overly warm just a little pinkish red that covers a pretty large area on the quad? Can this come from just the oil soaking in as it was the first pin to the right quad on this cycle?

You answered your own Q's. No redness des not constitute infection. Just pay attention. Swelling, pain, hot to the touch and redness combined will tell you. Yes catch it soon but if infected you WILL know it with he pain most probably. Good luck

Ok I've never got an infection from a shot I always change needles from drawing to pinnin and always clean site with prep pad. Always have washed hands. I've just seen from reading the redness and being hot can be the start but it also says fever and stuff like that I don't have have any of that.

If your not allergic to penicillin, go to an agriculture and farm store and pick some vet grade injectable penicillin up. Works great and very very cheap!

It's a little painful but I get pip in the quads so I assume it's just that.

I have amoxicillin that I keep around just in case. Just don't want to use it if it's not necessary.

Amoxacillin isn't going to work for that. Pip? Yea a lil bit briefly. Beats having an infection and clears it up almost immediately.

You have nothing to worry about as already stated. To relieve any discomfort pop an Advil and an antihistamine as you could have a mild allergic reaction (no scientific evidence this helps but Ive done it in the past and it helps a bit).

Amoxicillin and penicillin are basically the same thing. Amox is just a less synthetic newer version basically. They both treat infections the same way.

Probably just injected too fast or moved the needle around. Some esters are very irritating to the body which can cause local pain/tenderness/swelling.
Like stated you've answered your own question, but yes better safe than sorry.

I feel no need for antibiotics. Do more harm than good. Give it three days and I willing to bet it'll be all good!

No they don't work the same. You can google it. Ive done personal experience with both as well.

Correct. Please if you feel you don't have an infection you should know not to fool around with anti-biotic med. They tell you to use all the script which in most cases a Ten day supply so you kill all the infection and don't have to re-start hence the infections and other infections don't build up a tolerance. This is important protocol with antibiotics.
Ha we're not doctors but if it's broke see the doc, if it aint broke DON'T fix it. Leave it alone
