turkey bacon is a better choice then. flax oil is a great choice, as well olive oil, fatty fish, fishoil caps, hempseed oil, Udo's oil, natural peanut butter and nuts/seeds (but watch for the carb amounts)
HOWEVER with the addition of healthy fats in there, usually ona keto its 60%fat 35%protein 5%carbs or somewheres around there... anyways the fats prevent the body from going into that process.
this goes against the rule against 1.5 grams of protein for every lb
you weigh, if you did the 1.5 rule and 60% fat rule your calories
would be up there- I tried low/no carb and lost little, but I also
kept my protein intake at around 200-250 grams a day. but not at 60% fat could thishave been my problem? I was afraid if I dropped my protein down to 35% i would lose some muscle. What do you think?
There are a few diseases and physical health problems that ketogenic diets are specifically prescribed for -- even in children. I know a few people who previously were diagnosed with high cholesterol and high blood pressure that significantly reduced their levels of bad cholesterol as well their blood pressure during Atkins dieting. In fact, studies with larger groups have shown this to be a common effect. One diabetic I know has been able to significantly reduce the amount of insulin he needs to administer since adopting this type of diet.
Not everything is known about the long-term effects of this type of dieting, but the hard research I've read (as opposed to the speculation of supposed expert dieticians) along with a lot of anecdotal evidence indicates that at the very least low-carb dieting of reasonable calorie intakes is generally not unhealthy and actually of potential health benefit provided some macro and micronutrients are supplemented.
