Knee noises

The other day when doing deads, my right knee made a weird almost grinding sound...it didn't hurt, just made that noise when I did my 1reps @ 475lbs. Do u think its something to be really conserned about/should get it checked on? Is the heavier weight real hard on the joints?? Anyone else have any similar problems?? thanx

I get a cracking sound, but my knees also ache for weeks. For me, hopefully this is caused by bad form and can thus be prevented in the future. If you don't have any aches or pain, then I wouldn't worry unless it continues. And of course, always strive to perfect your form.

I'm really not the best person to respond to this, but at least my message is a bump.

I have pretty good form the way it is. Have a couple other lifters @ the gym that know what they're doing curtique my form and they both said it was good.
My knee only made that noise the 1 day and just on the heavy sets. Won't find out till next week if its still making noise. it doesn't when i squatt or anything else. Maybe it was just a freek thing for that day??!?

chondromalacia patella maybe? Good way to check this is to sit with your legs at a 90* angle, place the fingers of one hand over the patella of the knee and extend your leg. If it is chondromalacia, you should feel a grinding or popping as you extend the knee.

However, I'd just say that JOINTS POP, buddy. Your knee probably just popped for no reason related to your lift whatsoever. Hell, my shoulders pop almost every time I move them nowadays. Anything from air in the joints to bone-on-bone contact, to tendons slipping their grooves can cause that.

If there's no pain or loss of stability in or around the joint, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Is it possible you have arthritis??

My knees grind/creak and I'm only in my thirties and my doc told me I have it.

No pain just noise.
