i get knee pain from doing squats. i dont use knee wraps, could that be problem?i have a comp. in march so i need to get squats in program quickly but i dpnt want to severly hurt knees so i took 1 leg workout off and knee pain is mostly gone. leg workout in 2 days so i need to know what should i do?

I dont go quite all the way down in Squats and it works fine with development. Maybe try that? More weight and not as far down?

At gyms and such I hardly ever see anyone go all the way down.. when i ask they tell me bc it puts strain on the knees.. if you're squatting a lot of weight, obviously your knees cant handle all of it which is why u never straighten them fully when doing squats, because it will exert the full amount of weight your carrying into your legs and onto your locked knees.

How long have you had the pain? You on any steroids? Winstrol (winny) causes me lots of joint pain.

hmm.. im no doctor but it sounds like youve got some liver problems... you might wana get that checked out...?? also if thats not it tylenol might help?

It is really hard to determine what the exact cause of your knee pain is. I would have an experienced lifter watch you form as you perform squats and critique it accordingly.

I feel that as you go below parallel, any strain leaves your knees and instead it is picked up by the hips and glutes. Going parallel, I really feel it in my knees just before I come back up. I always go low.

The reason you don't see alot of people doing it is because its a lot harder than going to just parallel, i have heard both sides of the argument about parallel and past, me thinks most people have a pride issue and don't like to throw on some lighter weight and go ass to the grass on squats. Personally i like doing full squats because they work better for me and give me better development, not to mention they look cool.

But as far as your knee goes it could be any number of things, try hitting it with some lighter weight to work it back in, or maybe you should warm up better with progressive weight so it would be less of a shock to them. You could always try wraps to see if they work for you.

String got it right.

Shearing forces are greatest when you DO NOT go below parallel.
