Knee wraps

Well I was squating yesterday and these powerlifter guys ask me to squat with them and so I said HELL YEA! They ask me if I ever used knew wraps and I said no...so I got up to 395lbs for 5 reps and I used the wraps and they fuckin hurt. They told me it would feel uncomfortable at first. Did you guys feel the same way when first using knee wraps. It felt like I couldn't go all the way down but they said that I gotta force my way down to parallel. Do knee wraps take some time getting used to or am I being a pussy?

they take a little time , get a pair or 2 of your own preferably a powerlifter brand like inzer and practice with them . experiment with how you wrap them as far as how tight and how far above and below the knee you wrap . only use them on your heavist sets unless you have a knee problem and need them all the time and the heavier you go the tighter you can wrap and still get parallel

Yea that is what they told me too. I started to get a cramp on my left calf, exactly I need to find out where it feels comfortable for me, with how tight and how far down I wrap them. Thanks dawg!!!

your welcome , also inzer makes 2 different wraps [ A and Z ] i always mix up which is which but i think the Zwraps are competition and Awraps ore for the gym lifter , the As re supposed to be more comfortable and user friendly . but like i said i forget which is which for sure so ask if you order any .

I had to start wrapping my knees on anything over 405. I pulled both patella tendons and it sucked now I have no knee pain. Use them only when going heavy.

I only use mine in competition.

I have the Inzer Z wraps and they are pretty darn nice. If you are looking for something more user friendly...go to www.prowriststraps.com and email Alan. Tell him that Clint Darden sent you. He will take care of you and hook you up with what you are looking for. Good price, great service.

I want some TP-5000's XL's from Frantz. Basically canvas with elastic in them. Best money can buy but pretty painful:)

I used to not wrap til i hit 585 but have moved it back to 495. if you are not having knee pain i would not suggest wrapping unless you think you may want to compete. I dont like a tight wrap myself so I go with a medium wrap. however once i hit mid 7s or higher i will snug um down. i use the z wraps from inzer. 20 bucks i believe. the other guys at our gym like ricky dale crane wraps. also remember that the knee joint is a fairly fragile joint so if you are gonna wrap make sure to do it corectly. I have spoken with an ortho and a chiro about physiology of the knee and have a wrapping method i believe to be user friendly as well as giving the most support without having to wrap so tight you feet go numb.

fatchops you are one lucky guy to be around some powerlifters. it would be to your advatage to train with those guys as much as possible esp on deads, squats and back work unless you dont wanna get big. if the guys are doing box squats get in line. powewr routines build mass quicker than any other routine in my opinion bar none!!

The first time I squatted with full gear on (including knee wraps) I ended up with tendonitis in the hamstring tendon that goes around the knee and connects just under the knee cap. Hurt and was swollen for a long time.

I think a lot of it was from putting the Inzer Z knee wraps on too tight or incorrectly. The TP's seem to give more support without all the pain. Maybe it is the canvas-type material...who knows.

That's how I felt....pain in the back of my knees but I think I wrapped them wrong and my last set one of those guys wrapped me and it felt a lot better. Thanks for all that info. B Fold....i just ordered some last night thanks.

I just have some from Sports Authority work great. I use them because I want my knee caps attached for the rest of my life.

Always wrap from low to high on your leg in an X fashion.
