I'm 61, she's 51. I'm on this journey because of low T, possibly accentuated by too much work - we have. Rather successful company, and she is crucial to it.

We used to be fit together - bike riding after work, have skiied 18 different hills in the Rockies, walking the Swiss Alps - and we had our honeymoon paragliding in the Swiss Apls.

We have three kids, 18, 15 and 10. And she had near enough to zero exercise for 18 years. Then a year ago she had a tummy tuck - not for looks, but to sew the muscles back together.

Six months ago she could no no situps. The muscles would not switch on. Yesterday she hammered them. I am so proud!

Along with the tummy tuck she had a bunch of liposuction. And she hasn't put the fat back on; she's put solid muscle on. But she would dearly love to be slim again.

We gym together with a PT three times a week, and we go hard.

We are signing up with 3J Real Soon Now, but if any ladies have some advice I would be very grateful.

And one lady problem: at age 51 menopause is imminent. She currently has mild discharge from her nipples, which are tender. The doc put her on an antibiotic which ha done nothing.

Discharge is clear. Aside from that - almost no symptoms.

Hi BigFella Welcome to Ology~

What are your wife's stats, (weight, height) & what are her goals, I take it she's looking to build muscle & lose fat, right ?

The most important thing she can do right now is get her diet dialed in, diet will the most important factor for her.

She needs to know how much & what she should be eating, & she needs to combine that with a good training routine geared toward her goals...

I woudn't focus on doing tons of abs excercises right now, unless she's very lean now, if she's looking to get leaner, then I would focus on a good cardio routine & strength training, the abs will show once her body fat lowers.

Have her join, it will be great for her to explore the site & get one on one interaction with other members.

Best of luck to her~

I'm 52, 3 kids youngest being 22. I'm cleared by blood work as not being in menopause yet, but also have had hysterectomy13+ years ago with no Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). I have been active all my life, naturally strong and lean, but not a body builder. I certainly noticed a difference after turning 50. At this age we are fighting a great loss of natural hormones which affects everything! I turned to AAS to "help" with building and maintaining the muscle I used to have when it was easy to build.

Mrs P has good advice. Diet is the biggest part of all of this. I lift free weights for muscle building/maintaining. Of course the cardio for fat loss. Also at this age, our joints seem to be a bit more sensitive to heavy weight. I'm still pushing heavy weights, feels good to lift, but make sure she listens to her joints if she eventually goes heavy.

Is she pre-menopausal now? Are her hormones reeking havoc yet? That is one thing she needs to get assistance with if so. Vivelle-dot is a "bio-identical hormone" some women I know are using. I can't get it yet due to the fact I am not in menopause yet, but the evilness is just around the corner for me.

1. Hormones in check
2. DIET DIET DIET
3. Free weights
4. Cardio

I once heard an older gal say when I was 37 in a body sculpting class, "At this age it's our ass or our face we have to choose to keep up". I say Bullshit!

She might benefit from hormone therapy, check out some Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) clinics.
