Lesnar and Coleman... No More

Mark Coleman has pulled out of his fight with Brock Lesnar because of an apparent ligament tear in his knee. Damn. Well, this could open up some more interesting match-ups. Brandon Vera might be interesting because his striking is so awesome and he's so small for HW. Although I'm sure they will fill the spot before UFC 85 which Vera is slated to fight Fabrico Werdum. What matchup do you guys wanna see. Again let me clarify that I have an extensive amateur wrestling backround and that is the reason why I am so interested in Brock Lesnar.

^^you don't have to make excuses bro! I've got a collegiate wrestling background as well. I'd love to see Brock succeed at MMA, that would be great. I heard they might match him up w/Justin Mccully I think..

yeah i see them giving him a jobber or two............so he gets a lil hype and has more time to develope

MMAWeekly.com has confirmed that Heath Herring has agreed to fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 87 on Aug. 9 when the Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its debut in Minneapolis, Minn.

Lesnar was originally slated to face UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman in the main event of UFC 87. Coleman, however, suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in training, which will sideline him for at least six weeks. He was forced to withdraw from the bout with Lesnar due to the injury.

Herring has been on a roller coaster ride since his UFC debut in January of 2007. The former Pride heavyweight title contender has gone 2-2 in the Octagon, most recently defeating Cheick Kongo at UFC 82 in Columbus, Ohio.

Lesnar had a less than stellar Octagon debut, losing to former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir via kneebar at UFC 81 in Las Vegas earlier this year.

With the withdrawal of Coleman, the UFC acted swiftly, signing a new main event bout with welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, fresh off winning the title at UFC 82, making the first defense of his second reign as champion when he faces No. 1 contender Jon Fitch.

Roger Huerta and Kenny Florian will also square off at UFC 87. The bout, according to the promotion’s president, Dana White, will likely decide the next contender to the UFC lightweight title being contested on Saturday night at UFC 84 between current champion B.J. Penn and former champion Sean Sherk.

I have no wrestling experience, and in fact find wrestling gay, and still my interest in Coleman is very high.

I am also interested in seeing how much lesnar has improved. To tell you the truth though he fought a hell of a fight last time and just got caught, and that is all it takes. Until then he was looking good.

Brock got excited and tried to finish too fast. If he would have played a slightly more conservative top game or spent a bit more time on the feet he could have worn Mir down fairly quickly with his size.

who knows....lesnar might try kissing herring and get shit punched out of him :p

on a serious note...I think lesnar may have a chance...

I like Brock and would love for him to succeed but I think Herring is going to be to much for him. He has the experience and power and if the Herring who beat Kongo shows up, Brock will go down. I would've rather seen Lessner Vs Kongo personally. That would be a good battle.

Herring has shown a lot of good reversals recently, but you also have to remember he faltered against Jake O'brien, who is a much smaller and weaker wrestler than Brock.

^^True^^
Herring's problem is that he's unpredictable and you never know which Heath will show up.. but if the Texas Crazy Horse (from the Pride days) shows up, Brock is in for another embarrasing loss.
