Lifting during Cutting Up

I know that diet is the most important thing when cutting up but I have a question regarding workout routines/cardio during cutting up. In the AM immediately after waking up – I do anywhere from 20-30 mins of cardio at home. I will go to the gym another time during the day to lift then. I’ve gained the size that I want, but want to cut up. Should my second workout concentrate on cardio as well? Or should I continue to lift weights. I was also thinking if I did weightlifting during my second workout I should concentrate on doing low weight/high rep routines instead of heavy. What is everyone’s thought on this? I am currently about 15% bf; 6’2”, 235 lbs, 50” chest, 19” arms and 36” waist. I used to be close to 300 lbs with about 33% bf so I’ve made it this far… I just wanna see those abs next. Thanks in advance for your advice!

what kind of cardio are you doin bro? IMO you should be doing low impact, light cardio.. aka heart rate about 130, seeing as intense cardio burns muscle :( im about your size-ish im 6'3" and 265 and i do cardio twice a week, just 45 mins of speed walking on the off days. its a slow process but it works :)

just my 2 cents :)

you should continue to lift weights during cutting . at 15% you could make good progress by cutting calories alone so by throwing in cardio you should be fine.

Would you suggest that I do high reps during this time then?
you could but to be honest unless your on a severly restricted calorie diet i would just keep lifting just like before . if you really want to burn more fat while lifting try taking less rest between sets and lifting as explosively as possible . your heart rate will climb right on up there and your breathing will make you feel like your sprinting not lifting . just remember lifting with speed doesnt mean bad form :)

As far as what type of cardio I do - in the am I will either do walking or running outdoors but with weather that is not predictable. So I will also do elliptical trainer on those days too. I do keep track of heart rate during all my cardio - but it averages around 135-140 bps. Should I attempt to keep it down below 130?

dont cut calories but rather time your carbs differently. lift to add muscle and do cardio on off days. yes you can get stronger and loose BF at the same time. drugs or no drugs.

130 is fine on HR.
