Just pay attention to all the artificial sweeteners you're putting into your gut/body with diet pop, mio, crystal lite etc. Not known to do fantastic things in the short or long run

I would love to see your evidence for this statement :)

The main AS in diet drinks is aspartame, which has been studied over and over again and seen to be completely safe for human consumption unless you go crazy with the drinks - I'm talking 12 cans/6 bottles per day for a long term period. Since no one (who isn't a complete idiot) does this, you have nothing to worry about.
Also, aspartame has been deemed safe for human consumption by most of the regulatory bodies across the world - so unless you think the whole world is completely stupid, diet drinks are perfectly safe :)

SMILEY FACE!!! It doesn't take twelve cans of diet coke to cause gastro-intestinal issues SMILEYFACE

You can type "aspartame health risks" into google just as easiliy as I did, and find studies that support my claim :) :)

You can type "aspartame poses no health risk" into google and find studies that fully support your claim :) :)

I didn't say "never consume aspartame/sucralose" - I said pay attention to it; could've maybe clarified with "be wary how much you consume" if that would make you even smilier.

I think a lot of regulatory bodies don't have absolutely pure intentions - we consume a lot of things deemed safe/healthy that aren't fantastic for us or out bodies don't process well :) :)

You rely on google...I seriously doubt you actually bothered to read the studies yourself because if you did you wouldn't of made your "gastro-intestinal" claim. NO SMILEY FACE!!

I didn't want to do the work for you so in case you can't be bothered to read through my pretty conclusive upcoming statement - visit this link Diet Soda - Scientific Review on Usage, Dosage, Side Effects | Examine.com

To put this simply; there is NO long term study showing ANY harmful effects of diet soda or aspartame on health or body recomp - Effect of soda consumption on urinary stone risk ... [J Endourol. 2009] - PubMed - NCBI

The research that attempts to link health risks to diet soda had UNEQUAL caloric consumption, as in the diets were not monitored. One study clearly states "Consequently, the previously observed diet soda***8211;metabolic syndrome associations are generally speculated to be the result of residual confounding by other dietary behaviors, lifestyle factors, or demographic characteristics.". This same study also puts to rest the bullshit about diet soda and metabolic issues - Diet soda intake and risk of incident metaboli... [Diabetes Care. 2009] - PubMed - NCBI

If you can't control caloric consumption in a study all your proving is that unhealthy people drink diet soda - but NO CAUSE AND EFFECT. This same point applies to studies showing that diet soda had no effect on appetitie either way.

So maybe you don't agree with the 100's of bodies that found it to be safe, maybe you think the conclusive studies I provided above are somehow still bullshit, all I ask is you provide ONE conclusive good study proving that aspartame causes problems.
If you can't, then I suggest you stop spreading nonsense - :)

Ok, diet pop isn't supposed to be bad for you. I heard that numerous times.
Here's some first hand experience from myself.

I NEVER in my life had dermatitis issues. Ever.
I also never used to drink diet pop.
Until a few years ago, when I fell in love with the idea that you can drink as much of this crap as you want without any consequences.
Drank a good amount of it (maybe 8 cans a day) for about a month. BOOM - Dermatitis on the inside of my knees and my hands.
Got it to go away with creams, but ever since then, if I have diet pop, it flares back up in the same spot.

I don't care what the general consensus on this crap is.
Just think about it this way. It's a can full of shit that is supposed to NOT contain any nutritional value.
Yet you ingest colors, flavors, sweeteners and lord knows what else.

Done with this stuff.

Dude this just sounds like an allergic reaction that's all.
I had a client who experienced dermatitis everytime they consumed nuts - does that mean nuts are crap?
Some people react oddly to different things (some people can't handle milk, etc) but it doesn't mean that because 1 individual gets a bad reaction it MUST be bad for everyone.

I understand where your coming from with the no nutritional value stuff, but the fact is it isn't unhealthy & it doesn't effect bodyrecomp - so why wouldn't you drink it if your diet already covers the nutritional bases, especially if you like the taste?

Think people just wanna try to make a case without any proof, when u walk outside and suck that good old factory smoke stack air its unhealty lol, shit who knows what the water u are drinking contains, people make a big deal out of nothing, and will still drink my diet pop amd crystal light
Some people belong in a bubble

I wasn't initially allergic to it. Diet pop CAUSED my Allergies.
That's my point.

I would seriously love to hear how it did that.

Edit* I believe I may be developing an intolerance to eggs. Should I now tell everyone to avoid eggs at all costs?

i would also like to know how that happened

So would I BigKit so would I. I don't even know if it's necessarily the eggs yet but I have a strong suspicion. My point is, bc I have a reaction to eggs does that mean I should say they are bad for everyone?

Lol I raised the same point when a client of mine had an allergic skin reaction when consuming nuts. Being allergic to something is a very specific, individual thing - it doesn't mean everyone should avoid eggs/nuts/etc.

Luckily enough, people who raise bullshit statements get silenced pretty quickly thanks to the more intelligent board members on this forum - not to brag too much, but I believe I've silenced 3 in this thread alone :agreed:

Was thinking the same thing about whiskey ... Everytime i drink it i break out in handcuffs! Therefore by that logic nobody else should drink whiskey either

Do people not realise that all the drugs/medication being taken is pissed out into the water we eventually drink? Albeit in minute quantities, but never the less... I'm more worried about the shit in our water. There's artificial sweetener in 99% of protein powders incase no one has realised.

My sister is diabetic and has to watch her carb intake, my mother has allergies to certain nuts and seeds, my cousin has an allergy to tree fruits, a friend in school had an allergy to water (YES water), my football coach was lactose intolerant, I hate and cannot do che*se and possibly eggs now, a cousin of mine USED to be celiac. If all these people condemned all these things we would run out of foods to eat!

I really do like SnowPatrol and Noob. I hope they realize the distinction in the points...there are very few things everyone really need to completely avoid but there are more things we may have to avoid on an Individual basis. That alone isn't enough to say everyone must avoid those things.

Lmfao!! I think if we had a shot of some Jameson we would both end up in handcuffs bro!

I never said everyone needs to steer clear of diet pop.
I merely stated I would.

No need to get your panties in a wad...

How people can honestly make a stink on diet pop and crystal light containing aspartame being unsafe lol
When most on here includig myself inject steroids, really kinda strange how aspartame is so unsafe while we inject steroids, sounds really hypicritical doesnt it?

My panties aren't in a wad last I checked. You didn't say it outright but your tone implied it plenty. It's a literary technique called 'framing'. The most famous example of this i can think of is Good Calorie Bad Calorie by Gary Taubes :)
