I am looking for advice based on my initial tests with my urologist. Here are the numbers:

TESTOSTERONE, BIOAVAILABLE; Final result Testosterone 272 ;Sex Hormone Binding 32 ;Free Androgen Index 29.5 ; Testosterone, Free 54.0

PROLACTIN; Final result 10.6

LUTEINIZING HORMONE ; Final result 3.4 Comment: LH REFERENCE RANGE FOR MALES Pubescent - 70 years 1.5- 9.3 mIU/mL

FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONE Final result 12.7 Comment: FSH REFERENCE RANGE Pubescent - 70 years 0.9-15.0 mIU/mL

A little background information. I am 54 years old and have never done any steroids but was an athlete back in the day. My height 6'1 and weight 247. I returned to the gym 3 months ago and am starting to feel a little better. Mainly go for cardio and a little lifting. My goal is just to lose some of the weight that I have gained over the last few years and start to feel better. Have had most of the typical symptoms of low testosterone for several years. Finally did some research and decided to do something about it.

I completed my second test for testosterone that the urologist required yesterday but do no have the results back.

Thanks in Advance

Creese, I am too 54 years old and for a long time i was on the same boat - feeling like crap. Few months ago I've decided that cannot take it anymore, did the tests, went on TRT and literally got my life back. Do not let this slips. Follow up with your Dr and if you feel you are not getting satisfactory response or treatment.. change the Dr.

As I am novice too, I don't want to jump giving advice based on my limited experience. However, do post tests results and mainly your urologist interpretation as there are many experienced people here that could guide you further.

Thanks for the reply Dragot. Definitely going to stick with this until I get some help. I been lucky most of my life and did not need a doctor too often. I now realize how hard it is to find someone that is willing to work with you on the TRT. My GP never mentioned the possibility of low test and want to prescribe the typical medications. I found my urologist by searching myself based on how I feel. Hopefully he will be able to help.

Holy FSH Batman! Have you had an examination for varicoceles by chance? Your pituitary is SCREAMING for sperm production in a major way.

You certainly are hypogonadal, and at this point it's up to you if you want to look for a cause or not. I can't clearly say you're primary hypogonadal as that FSH just jumps out at me. Has your doc talked about looking at your pituitary also?

Hang in there though, a solution is definitely in sight and you'll be able reclaim your life soon enough. :)

My .02c :)

Thanks for the reply halfwit. I am new to all of this and am trying to understand how all of the numbers are related to each other. At this point I have only had the initial appointment with my urologist to discuss my symptoms. He also did a quick exam at that time and I completed the first blood test. After the results came back his nurse called and scheduled the second blood test.

The urologist did ask in the initial appointment if I had experienced headaches or blurry vision, which I have not. I expect the results of my second test to be available by Monday and am going to schedule another appointment with him. You have given me something to ask about if he does not address it first.

Thanks

There is a sticky thread called the Basic TRT Overview at the top of this forum. I would encourage you to give it a read. Or click on tnr FAQs link below in my signature.

yea it seems youre a damn good candidate for trt.. it should help improve a number of things

I have to ask what time the labs were taken at? Fasting?

Also agree, for the newb to TRT, memorizing the TRT basics sticky will help you.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have been reading through the TRT sticky at the top. Lots of good information in there. The first blood test was done at 14:30 non-fasting. The second one that I do not have the results for was taken at 9:30 also non-fasting. It is almost a relief to find out that something is wrong after dealing with this for years.

TRT is a no-go with urologist. The second test came back a little higher. Here are the results:

Testosterone 329 ng/dL 250 - 1000 ng/dL
Sex Hormone Binding 29 nmol/L 11 - 78 nmol/L
Free Androgen Index 39.3 19.2 - 123.2
Testosterone, Free 70.4 pg/mL 47.0 - 244.0 pg/mL3

So I am currently in the process of finding a new doctor, but am also considering self-treatment.

made any progress on finding a new doc?

Actually I have found a new doctor. Don't know if I am allowed to mention name, but it is one of the TRT clinics out of Florida. Had to get additional blood tests done that included DHEA-S and progesterone. The DHEA results were 132.5 and the progesterone was .2. Have a by phone appointment scheduled for 11/10 and will post what the doctor decides to do. Hopefully things are headed in the right direction. Thanks for your help.

Check for Micro Prolactinoma. That may be why your pituitary is screaming.

Thanks..I will make sure and ask about that. To this point I have not had an MRI done but based on my limited knowledge from reading and suggestions from people here that does come into question.
