Looking for help with understanding test results

Just got my test results back. I'm looking for any advice on what I should do.
I'm 35, 5'10", 150lbs, and generally fit and healthy. I've had symptoms of low T for all my adult life, namely low drive, low libido, depression, ED, no a.m. wood, sparse facial/body hair.

Free Testosterone 15.5 ng/dL 4.7 - 24.4
Testosterone 9.050 ng/dL 1.424 - 9.231
Estradiol E2 29.0 pg/mL 11.0 - 44.0
Prolactin 25.71 ng/mL 3.46 - 19.40
FSH 5.10 mIU/mL 0.95 - 11.95
LH 3.60 mIU/mL 1.14 - 8.75
SHBG 52.5 nmol/L 32.4 - 128

Thanks a lot.

You are in the upper range for Total Testosterone. You definitely are not Hypogonadal. Many doctors putting you on TRT would give you a protocol that would result in much lower TT levels actually (not that any doc would ever put you on TRT).

Your prolactin is a little high. Did you speak with your doctor about that? It can definitely cause some of your symptoms and there are medications that will lower it.

What did your TSH come in at?

Some reading:

I've not had any thyroid hormone bloodwork. I will get that done within the next few days. I had the tests at a private lab, no Dr. involved.

Thanks for the info on Cabergoline. The subjects in those studies had low T and high prolactin. I would be keen to try it though if high prolactin is the culprit. I am really surprised at how high my testosterone is considering my symptoms. I must be peeing it all away, as it doesn't appear to be being used much!

From the info on SHBG testing I have found, it seems the reference range on my blood test is quite, unusual. The majority of what I have come across has 50 nmol/L as the max figure in the range. Following this, my result would be too high. Am I missing something here?

I've a lot of reading up to do. Thanks for the support.

Lots of things can cause the symptoms you are describing. But it definitely does not appear to be Low T related. Prolactin could be contributing. Perhaps sleep apnea? Thyroid? Diet? I wish I had the answer for you. I suggest you go see your doctor.

To evaluate ur thyroid get TSH, FREE T3, and FREE T4. if ur doctor is really cooperative and generous ask for REVERSE T3, TPO and TBII too. The first 3 will tell if ur hyper or hypo thyroid, the last 3 will tell if ur hypertenstive, and/or autoimmune. Post your results here.
