Max PR's Deadlifts on a cycle

What's a normal weight and rep range for you? I'm on cycle after recovering from an injury and really trying to focus on what I'm doing and not necessarily a number.

I dont wanna hijack this thread. To answer that quickly and easily, I use an appropriate weight I can do 8-12 reps with using perfect form. Full contraction, full stretch, no shitty useless reps, ever.

No point in doing max deads (1-3 reps) once a week. Like it was already stated you are risking injury especially on cycle. Not to mention that's too much on your CNS. You can take all the gear, hgh and peptides but they won't heal your CNS. You need time to heal both systems. If your talking heavy deads with a higher rep range like 10-12 for hyper trophy then go ahead. Still keep the weight not too heavy and focus on form. You guys bodybuilding or power lifting? Lol and if you do care to power lift remember those guys take CNS recovery very seriously.

I couldnt tell you my max Dead, or squat or bench for that matter. I dont ever train heavy.

The beauty of that bro is that you dont need to lift heavy to build muscle :)

Like always brother.. Great posts..

All u need is progressive load/training.. And u can get that in many ways beside adding weights..
Adding weights till ur form gets screwed up is one way ticket to snap city (using the hodge twins term)

yeah ofcourse i scream or grunt and talk to myself before i lift that shit, usually stay in a zone for 5 min and focus on that weight, whats another 90lbs i say, instead of thinking opposite and syking myself out, again 5 days a week i lift in moderation, not crazy ass stupid weight, in the 8-10-12 rep range, it's just kinda fun and gets me pumped to do some deads with some big boyz in the gym, most of the guys i train with got a good 40+lbs on me right now but week by week my weight is going up thanks to 3J and feeling strong exspecially on higher carb days :)

I don't know why this is the new thing to say. Do you thik pros got big by not lifting heavy weight? Sure you can get size from training hyper. Telling me you've never squatted or benched over 315 for reps? Had a good set said fuck it throw on 365? Tired of hearing you dont need to lift heavy to get big.

I think the point is more that you don't have to routinely lift heavy to get big; that's more of a recipe for injury

Ronnie coleman COULD squat 800lbs with a suit but I highly doubt he did that for funsies without a video camera rolling

Example...I can put four plates on the bar and squat for 3-4 reps, or get 12 with three plates - what's more likely to grow my legs with lower risk of injury?

Do u understand the word (progressive) or u just like to speak no matter what bull shit comes into ur mind without thinking?
Number of sets , reps , rest , motion , speed , adding weights are all ways of pushing the muscle harder therefore : growing.

That's what schredder meant.

Yo dont have to plain and simple. Now you cant get big lifting light weight. What im saying is, a guy has to use an appropriate weight he can lift with good form rather than a weight thats too heavy with shit form. Just because a guy is moving weight doesnt mean his muscles are going to grow. 9/10 guys i see at the gym lift weight that is too heavy for them and look like shit.

Exactly brother!

have you guys ever seen pro level guys lift.. you think they lift as heavy as they can??

people have forgotten what it takes to grow muscle... its the burn.. without the burn youre not causing enough damage to your muscle to let it repair itself and grow in some significance.. my reverse pyramid routine thats a sticky in the training section is based on that philosophy.. its really common sense..

for those of you who need motivation.. get on netflix and watch pumping iron..

Brother it took me 20 years of terrible form with 2-3 reps and extreme pain in all joints to realize this. God if I could go back and talk to my 25 year old self. I respond great to 8-12 reps, but with strict form. Really getting the mind in the movement (muscle)

I'm so much taking it easy..
What is heavy? Can u define heavy? What could be heavy for me could be a warm up set for you..
No one said you ll grow bench pressing the pink gay dumbbells.. All you need is to push the muscle one more step to grow..
Explain to me how would a 39 year old guy like me with 2 lumber discs grow? Or should I quit lifting as I can't go (heavy) ?

On a side note.. Do u know how I got my l4 l5 disc?
Lifting (heavy) with a fucked up form.

Heavy obviously depends on ones strength. I'm also not saying to work up to a 1rm every leg or chest day. Clearly that'd be pretty ignorant which many ppl do. Personally i never go below 3-5 reps when benchin or squatting.

I would explain to a 39 yr old that there are many hammer strength machines you could use, that take out the stabilization factor when doing a bb row for example.

Injuries are apart of the game. I'm just recovering from pulling my groin by lifting like an idiot. Lesson learned.

I've only done 515lbs, but I weighed around 280lbs. I was on 500 of test e per week. I would also like to see a video. I just did some deads today to get a feel for where I'm at strength wise. I did 315×10, 365×6 and then 405×4. Then I went back down to 315 and did a set of 8 to finish up. I weigh 245 lbs right now. I guess that's pretty weak considering I see alot of guys in here who weigh around 200 lbs doing 405 and 365 for 10. I have work to do haha.

Where I train most guys can't do 225 lol

like i said i dont lift like that daily, but i do set a day out for strickly max deads, i get geared up, i look around the gym, see if there is any hotties around and et more geared up, i dont know if people get the same feeling but fuck the more hotties in the gym, the more syked i get the weight is going up, like your testosterone increase's a few more notches lmao, but yes, i love just setting a max day for strickly deads and scarin the lovely ladies when the weight comes down lmao :)

Those hotties don't look at you so fondly when your LCL tears and you hit the deck quicker than a hot snot with iron clanking and rolling around everywhere...

Sheesh, you really think the hotties get wet watching a guy 1RM?
I think they'll be too busy swooning over the guys pumping out reps making a moderate weight look easy than eyeing you!
Train clever dude...

I was thinking the same thing, but that just sounds harsh. I think in general most chick's don't like meatheads who are screaming and grunting in the gym. The guys will stop what they are doing and watch, but act like they aren't when you have 5-6 plates on each side, but the chick's are running for the hills thinking what a douche.
