Well, I lovE those monster drinks. I drink the low sugar, low carb one (the blue). I consume about 4-6/day. Is that bad, if so, how and why?

I feel just fine.
I don't really drink them for energy. I just love the taste. Like, I have drank one right before I go to bed. lol So it's not really the boost im after, but the taste. But my dad is on my ass "you shouldnt drink that, you will have a heart attack one day." I dunno, but, I feel fine. I do see me hooked on them..somewhat.
Like everything else, too much can hurt you, so I have to chill a bit. That was the last 24 pack I buy..for this month

u should google caffeinism... 200mg of caffine in each of those monsters (the smallest ones) that's 800-1200mg of caffine a day.. and all that sugar??

common sense goes a long way

common sense is not so common -M. Twain

dont get me wrong.. i prob have 1 every other day myself.. but thats about it..

i didnt write this, i found it.

Monster energy drink is a product that may have been experienced by many of you. Athletes, students, working men certainly have found an ally in this energy drink whose role is to provide for a lot of calories at important moments that require all of their energies to carry on with their activities. Stamina is almost instantly replenished and while the body improves its capacities, you can accomplish your task.

There is no wonder the Monster energy drink has gained a large popularity, but at the same time, people have starting asking questions about the possible effects of the drink on the general state of health. Some say that the energy drinks are usually made of certain ingredients that, although they are legal and verified, they can cause some side effects if the intake of energy drinks is too high.

There are two things that must be kept in mind when we are talking about the side effects of the energy drinks.

Side effects are caused by the combination of the ingredients used for making the drink. The Monster energy drink is also made of a certain combination.

This combination consists of carbohydrates that can cause the body absorption of nutrients and food into the bloodstream to become more difficult. This means that the person drinking too much of the energy drink can encounter gastrointestinal issues.

Second, not only nutrients are harder to be absorbed in the body, but also the fluids. This means that hydration cannot be made at the optimal rate, also causing health problems. This hydration issue must concern especially athletes, whose bodies lose an important quantity of water during training. They should be careful about the intake of this energy drink, especially since it is designed for them.

The Monster energy drink is also rich in sugar. Once in the body, the product brings a lot of sugar, which is transferred into the bloodstream. When the effect of the energy drink wear off and the sugar level in the blood drops, this can be quite visible and the person consuming the product can feel it quite well. Also, some laxative effect can occur.

Other side effects of the Monster energy drink is strongly related to the caffeine it contains. Caffeine is important as it plays a major role in giving energy to the body. But large quantities of caffeine can cause insomnia and other sleep disorders with important effect for the general health. Caffeine also is responsible for ailments like high blood pressure and heart diseases.

A side effect of the Monster energy drink is the boost of energy it gives when consumed. Of course, this is not a negative side effect, but a positive one. The body feels invigorated and this is a great think when you need to exercise or perform heavy tasks.

It is good to know about the side effects of an energy drink when you decide to consume it, especially on a regular basis. If you know about the ingredients and their side effects, it is easier for you to decide whether the drink is good for you and if it can provide the help you seek. The considerations for your health are important, so drink this only if you think that it is good for you.

I had a coach in high school that was late 30's who had a heart attack and continued having heart murmers after, the doctors told him it was from energy drinks and enrgy pills he had been taking for the last 5 yrs

im sorry i didn't clarify the context so u could follow along.. ill try working at a slower pace so u can keep up and spell everything out for u..

sugar alcohols are Non-impact carbs.

They have little to no effect on blood sugar.

The 20 calories in a monster low carb come from the 5 or 6g of glucose it has. Not exactly gonna make you a diabetic or even fat, even when you multiply it by 4-6x

no one was refuting that... i agree with what ur saying.. but they do still count as calories.. the fda just doesnt require them to be counted on the nutrition facts because of the reason that you gave.. its still a non natural sugar ur putting in ur body.. a horrible laxitive.. and some studies have shown it could be possibly carcinogenic..

do u mean to tell me that u believe there are no unhealthy side effects of that much sugar alcohols on ur body on a daily basis??

Ive got news for you, monster uses sucralose as a sweetener. And unlike aspartame which does have 4 cals per gram, sucralose is a true zero calorie sweetener.

Furthermore, there are no known health issues to my knowledge associated with that particular daily intake of sucralose. A 220 pound man would have to ingest in excess of 110grams of sucralose in a day in order to be prone to adverse effects. To put that in perspective, one monster low carb has about .01g of sucralose so youd have to drink approximately 11,000 monsters in one day to exceed that dose.

THE LETHAL SCIENCE OF SPLENDA

theres some food for thought...

and its "zero-calorie sweetner" title is controversial.. theres two sides to the story..

did u just wikipedia that? lol how do u know exactly how much someone would have to take in??

seriously, beef aside take the time to read the article..

and its just plain wrong to think 6 monsters full of splenda a day is not unhealthy.. i dont know where ur going with this philosophy of yours.. are u inclined to just meet the challenge??

why couldn't u have just started a normal debate?? i love shit like this.. there was no need for all that hostility
