Muscle soreness good? Train less to grow more?

Hey guys-

Since its summer time and its really nice outside i do a lot more activities with my kids an all, and since we re like on vacation i do train less frequently, like 3 times a week. I usually train 5 times/week.

But for the last month, like i said, im training like 3 days, and i do a push/leg/pull routine. So that's each body-part once a week.

Since i started to train less, i pretty much always feel soreness 48 hrs after my training...like its hurting but in a good way....u know like how it hurts when u start up after a break.... So im very happy about that...
Does that mean we grow more when it hurts?

Does that mean that the gear is good, in the way that aas increases how much your microfibers get ripped up while training? (increased catabolism while training should hurt more?)

I have a feeling that im not training enough, and sometimes feel bad about it, but to be honest, that gear/training schedule seem to give better results....Kinda funny that even on gear, training less is better...
Oh and my strength is increasing a lot that way also..Im lifting like 50 pounds more then 5 weeks ago on the bench....i was stuck on a plateau for like a month before that...

And i remember CFM saying that most guys train too often...i think i just now realised how true that is....

Although you are training less days how is your intensity? I'd say you are experiencing DOMS... it's normal delayed onset muscle soreness from your muscles having tears in them from the training.

Everyones body reacts different and maybe you have found what works for you. I personally train 2 days on 1 off but never keep my routine the same. The moment I feel like my body is getting use to the pattern I change it immediately and get the same soreness. I definately see changes. On cycle though recovery seems really fast so I don't really feel sore at all but definatelly have seen growth.

You might have found what works well with your body my brother

I'm glad you found something that works for you bro. I find that works for me during heavy training low rep, high intensity in the winter. when on cycle, I have a hard time getting enough in the gym. maybe I'm hindering my gains but I don't think so. I can train like an animal and seem to lose the soreness in a couple of days . don't want to overtrain but doesn't feel that way, just in the chest once in awhile. I swear I could train back everyday......lol

less can indeed be more my friend ;)

that guy named Yates (think he one the O a few times haha)... trained on a 4-day split over an 8 day period, seemed to work for him lol. Like mentioned above, I too feel I can put more into my workout when I know I'm gonna rest the next day or two

Intensity wise, i do mostly like 6 reps, sometimes 7-8. When i feel a muscle hasn't work enough ill do some extra exercises and sometimes end it by doing some till failure sets by decreasing weights till i cant lift even zero pounds... Im a big believer in ''feeling'' how my muscles feel....i mean i got a set routine, but i will adapt it to how i feel that day, most of the time. Maybe an extra bicep exercise, or break the routine and do a 30 rep of something, till failure to end the muscle... I think we re not robots and cant use a set in stone program....

thanks for your input guys...but does that mean that soreness= bigger growth? hehe

I love doing that burn out with shoulders at the end of workout, I go all the way down to zero weight so I can barely change my shirt or lift my arms.what a pump.

I've recently done the same, change from 5 to 3 days. I am seeing more gains and the same pain. I actually do every other day with sat being a "whatever I want to do in the gym" day.
