Ology's Golden Boy
when i sent an email asking about joining i got this back. wtf does this mean

"We are a private close
key
club with all competitive lifters who compete or help at the meets that
members attend. You would have to be able to work in with one of the
groups
and be very committed to getting strong. our gym is very hard but it is
the
best for obtaining strength goals."

It means you have to be strong enough to be able to work in without having to strip the whole damn monolift down for you to squat, lol.

I don't know, maybe you have to put in time as someone's towel boy before they let you join?

im leg pressing 8 plates on each side and benching in the 3's
i dont think they do alot of leg pressing...what are your squat/deadlift/bench numbers? Are you interesting in being a competitive powerlifter? If not walk away, that's what they want.

im interested in becoming a serious lifter while concentrating on bodybuilding and using powerlifting.

bench 335x4
squat 225-haha back injury
dead 315x4

Forget it then. They don't want a bodybuilder training there. If you want to be competitive in the powerlifting world then maybe but even then your numbers are pretty low to work in there.

Fuck that, come train at Detroit Barbell man. They'll take you in. I started there with a 225 bench (pinkies on the rings) and just put up 260 and ti was EASY (pinkies on the rings), and JUST missed 275, all in 2 months of training under Clay Brandenburg. Family environment, they demand 100% out of you but everyone helps eveyrone else out, and it sounds like if you ain't lifting what everyone at westside is lifting, then all you gonan be doing is loading plates.

Fuck that. :)

Edit: Oh shit, we don't want bodybuilders training at our gym either, go train at bally's . LOL j/k

sorry if i was a little harsh but read this: http://www.westside-barbell.com/ click on Powerlifters Wanted at the top.
It will pretty much explain what they are looking for in people who want to join.

Well, after reading that it sounds like westside could care less about the growth of the sport. What about new guys wanting to get into powerlifting? Doesn't sound like they want you if you ain't benching close to the record or squatting near 1000.

Hope im wrong.

that is the biggest part of the equation..
WSB does have teens all be it talented ones that do lift there and worktheir way up..

but if you squat 225 and chuck is using 500+plus blues its not going to be a very good workout..

having said that numbers are not to be laughed at we all started at some point i dont care who you are..Chuck was once a 700lb squatter as well he was nt born squatting 1k :)

my other option is world off long street, and i just really need a guy that i can learn from that can really get me into serious bodybuilding rather that my attempt at it even though i am doing great. I have to leave behind my training bud/trainer of 3 years and he was phenomenal at pushing me and getting me to give 120%. im just dreading going there and not being able to find a serious bud because i cannot train alone at all

stop being a little bitch cortez :)
If you really want something , then you got to go and get it. It's great to have someone else there to help motivate you, but the bottom line is that you have to find the drive within your self to succeed

what part dont you understand? if you dont compete they ask that you attned meets and help out. doesnt say you have to compete. and im sure they have a group of lifters in your # range. youll get to train with others so spots will never be a problem. you want motivation to train? its there and waiting on you. what else you want? how bad you want it? sounds perfect to me. trust me those guys will help you if you are willing to help them. the group i train with is the same way . we'll bend over backwards to help if you want to help us. show up late and leave early, dont load plates, dont clean up and you wont make it long with us or any plers. nothing worse than a guy that wants help but dont want to help out.

just go over there and talk to them. there are many PLers who compete in bbing as well. andy feidler just won mr. minnesota. 827 bench @ 275 as well. he blew the comp away, no one even close to him. moving heavy iron builds thick muscles like nothing else, i dont care what anybody says. its the cold hard facts. heavy iron = thick muscles. high reps with light weights = no gonads.

they not asking for anything they aint willing to do themselves.

who knows in a couple of years you may be at the wpo competing.
