so i've been to the ZEST gym today and wasn't able to lift because of budget thingie...my bad really. now, i stayed a while and watch them powerlifters slap plates on the bar like it's cotton and laugh as they walk up to the rack. that alone scares me..the entire place scares me..people their scares me. i feel so tiny and feel like they're gonna eat me alive over there.
I then met Philippine's strongest/powerful powerlifter, Mr. Eddie Torres, the gym owner:
* Strongest Man in the Philippines of all time (820 kg/1,807 pounds). No one from other gyms has totaled 1,800! Or even 1,700! All top 3 all-time strongest are from Zest

* Strongest Deadlift of all time (325 kg/716 pounds)
* 2 Golds, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze in the World Masters Championships Drug-Tested twice!
* 2-time Asian Open record holder
* 3 Asian Masters records Drug-Tested!
* The first male powerlifter from the Philippines to win a gold medal in the Asian Open Championships
* Qualified for the 2006 World Open Championships (but no funds this year)
* 6 Golds, 8 Silvers, 10 Bronzes in Asian Open Powerlifting Championships
* 2005 Masters Strong Man of Asia awardee (Masters I Best Lifter)
* 7 Golds, 1 Silver in Asian Masters Championships
* 2006 Asian Masters Bench Press Silver medalist
* 15 consecutive years National Team member (every year since 1992)

* Coach to 7 of 11 qualified 2006 Asian Open Philippine Team members
* Coach to 5 of 7 qualified 2006 World Open Philippine Team members
* Best official Squat: 335 kg (All-time strongest in the Philippines. The top 3 all-time strongest are all from Zest)
* Best official Bench: 182.5 kg
* Best official Deadlift: 325 kg (All-time strongest in the Philippines)
he's a cool guy. nothing fancy., plain and simple..downright strong. what I saw today was them doing squats. heck, even a 13 year old kid is being trained their..he was doing bench and they also have those special powerlifters (disabled). I regretted big time for not bringing enough money for their membership. there were bands, box, racks, big ass kilo plates..rusty bars, old squat racks..but as always, 200 is still 200 pounds.
all in all, it's a good scare..new experience for me...just hope they don't bully me <<;
