Mysterious Low Test Result

I am 60 yrs old, in 2010 my urologist verified a 305'ish test level via bloodwork and placed me on therapy using Andro Gel x 2 packets per day.

Readings improved during blood tests each 3 mths until 700-900 levels were reached and i was placed on an every 6 mth bloodwork program to keep tract of test levels, PSA, liver functions ect.

I transferred my Test therapy to my family physician just to cut the amount of doctors and co-pays.

Life was much improved accross the board. Easy and fast to apply and be done with it.

Began dieting, working out, although disc herniations limit overall performance levels we all had at younger ages. But, losing 50 lbs of fat and getting cut was a good thing along with cholesteral dropping 268 to 186! Maybe i can add a few more years on the other end and pester my wife alittle longer.

Today, a routine doctor visit to review last weeks blood work showed a 383 test level???

I have found it harder to go to the gym recently. Poundages are remaining same but with less gains and a few more of those bad days you just don't want to go. Like today.

Doctor thinks it might be a bad reading and wants me to go for another blood work in 2 mths to verify. As a family physician he had no real answers. I began to ask about receptors, oversaturation and got deer in headlights look. Maybe you need to go back to urologist and change gels, dosages or find something that works better for you.

Is it a known thing for those on Andro Gel to drop test levels over time?

Not sure if it's time at my age for injections and dealing with that or just change to another gel or possibly update the amount Andro Gel used.

Thank you for assist

did you get you estradiol levels tested?

It is common for this to happen, a lot of cream users report this. You could get a stronger (%) gel, or give injects a try.

Some compounding pharmacies make strengths up to 20%

Don't sweat the injections, they are much easier than messing with patches in my opinion. With a 25 gauge needle and Rx Test you won't feel a thing. It is possible to be sore for a few days after injection the first few times you inject a new muscle but that goes away. The soreness feels like a really bad bruise. Once your injection locations "get use" to your shots they shouldn't hurt anymore.

Thank you all !!

Pinot, go for injectable T. Pretty much everyone starts on gel, and the minute they get on injectable T their lives change for the better. Personally: I aromatised heavily on transdermal T, levels went up and down, E levels were everywhere, and it was a bloody annoyance. On Test E E3D and it is totally painless and completely effective. And it takes less time than cleaning teeth.

Edit: 25g 3/4" needles in delts. End of story.

Oh, and I trump you. I'm 61.

More reading: another blood test in two months??? WTF?

You're in the right place here mate. Start reading, learning and asking questions. They are very welcome.

Older guys do better on gel then younger guys. It may be easy to go on an anti E youll feel better. But times two for shots they are not that bad, personally id rather do it once a week vs every day. But being older with softer skin and muscles shots may not be as appealing. Personally I was on shots with doc then got sent to endo, and started on endos protocol which was gel first. I went from 6-700 total T on shots to low 100s on gel, dont even know what E was but I bet it was hight
