Need advice to help my wife.

I need some female prespective in a big way. My wife has been in awesome shape for most of her life. she is currently pregnant with our second child. :D However, she has lost all desire to maintain her fitness level and diet. After our first child I thought that maybe she would bounce back..... this is not happening. I try to incourage her but she doesn't seem to care about her body any longer.

I wish this wasn't an issue for me, unfortunately it is.
Any advise ?

I don't have any children myself so I can't speak from first hand experience here. I do have two sisters though who both have children and I know their hormones were all out of whack when they were pregnant. How far along is she now? Perhaps after she has her second child, she will be a little more motivated to lose the weight.
I'm sure some of the other girls who have had children will offer you some personal insight. I would say just continue to be supportive of her. When she goes grocery shopping, you go too and try to opt for healthier food choices if she's choosing the not so good ones. You may even want to look into any fitness clubs that offer programs for mom's-to-be. Sometimes being around other women that are experiencing the same thing, will help. Has she been into weight training before?
:)

Thanks Fyre, She hasn't trained to the same level that I have been. However, she did at some point pay attention to her diet. I am not big on putting any pressure on people ecspecially my wife. My diet is pretty squared away and she has the option to eat the same things I do. For some reason she just doesn't.

She is 2 months into this one and my oldest is 15 months. I know there hasn't been much time between the two for her to get back into a healthier lifestyle, but I guess I will just waite and see what happens after the second baby... BTW I hope its a girl.

Ive been there and I can tell you what I think it is. I used to work out all the time before I got pregnant. Once my son was born I was so worn out all the time that I quit working out. Fortunately I have a very high metabolism so instead of getting heavy I lost all my muscle and just got really skinny. I was 1oo lbs at 5'6", not attractive. With a 15 month old she is probably totally worn out trying to be a good mom and on top of that pregnancy makes you tired. I slept through most of my pregnancy. It wasnt until his dad hired a nanny that I got back in shape. I know the gyms have day care centers but I was so worn out that it wasnt worth packing up all his stuff to go and then get paged because he was crying or hungry and I didnt have the energy anyhow. Just my 2 cents from my experience. Chelsea

no offense bro but it should be obvious that right now her body tired , stressed , hormones are out of whack, and her body WANTS to gain fat its just a natural process of the human body when instincts not rational thinking rule her emotions and behavior. Dude if I had to deal with the trauma of carring a child for 9 months giving birth getting back into shape and then 12 months later have to go throught it again I know I wouldn't be looking to open any tuna cans any time soon , id be chowing on some pizza and burgers . shit I couldn't even think of "clean foods for 4 months after my shows now think how much worse this is. Face it Bubba your wifey is gonna get fat , so what support her help her and care for her , your more concerned about your feelings , put them aside for a lil junior then after a few months AFTER the pregnancy get her back into the gym , and at least give her two years before the next one man that shits gotta hurt.

You may be able to help out the hormonal issues by supplementing her diet with cod liver oil or fish oil. They can really help females out. That and maybe some evening premose or borage oil.

Thank you all for your advice and thoughts! I greatly appreciate it.
I know it's tough for women ecspecially during pregnancy.
All your advice is well taken.
Thanks a bunch.

I have 2 boys (5 next week and 15 months). I was really into fitness after I had my first son but this time around my priorities have changed. I exercise now for heath reasons but my dedication to a bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle has dwindled. I have decent genetics so I'm don't look too bad, but I could look a lot better. Having a low bf% is no longer a priority in my life. There are so many other things to take care in the day and eating 6 meals a day ain't one of them. Also I didn't workout during either pregnancy because I was so miserable. Good luck.

Update !!
Well my wife has snapped out of her eating frenzy. I guess she is satrting to feel the weight and her nausiea has subsided to a degree. She is out of bed and feeling better. She mentioned to me the other day that after the baby is born she is going to get back to a easy program not to tough, mostly trying to square away her diet and nutritional intake. Personally I think she is getting tired of Wendys Classics.
Anyway thank you gals for your input.
