Just to start, I am 36 years old. 6'5 and 285 lbs. I dropped my weight a few years back to be lean most of the year. At that time I was about 235 lbs. Last May, I started gaining a lot of weight, and by year end I was 285. I never stayed away from the gym, and I eat healthy all the time.

My wife finally talked me in to seeing a Dr. It seems I have a thyroid issue TSH= 6.630, and TPO 75. She perscribed me Synthroid, but I am reading that it causes weight gain. This bothers me because I am already fat, and I have tried for months to lose weight and stop gaining.

Also, Total Testosterone is 265, and my free test came in low at 1.6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're elevated TSH suggest an underactive thyroid. This is one variable in weight gain. If you take medication to give your thyroid a kick it needs, you should lose weight.

You have a slightly elevated TPO but jus' to make sure, what is the reference range? Did you test for TPOAb? Elevated TPO levels suggests Hashimoto's disease which accounts for most of Hypothyroid cases.

TPOab was 75. The normal ranges are (0-34)
