Ok heres one that KILLING me here.
I now lift at my universities gym, its big and has just about everything I could possibly need. My problem: Squatting. I can only set the J-hooks at large intervals in the cages (no half racks at all). So basically its either too tall for me to comfortably rack (i can unrack it barely) or too low to unrack it under heavy work soooo Im fuckin pissed. Anyone have any mcguyver ideas?

welcome to my world
my rakcs friggin suck theres about 4-6 inches between each interval and of course i need something in between

for lighter weights it really isnt a problem but when going heavy i can barely get the bar out of the rack

ive actually had to have spotters on both sides pick the bar up with me

the only thing i can think of is if you can rest the bar on the pins instead of using the hooks to sort of act like a monolift then just unrack it and have people slide the pins out so that you can squat and then slide them back in when youre ready to rack it

i would use the slot just under the one thats too tall.as long as you aint in a quater squat already shouldn't be a prob.thats the way mine is and it's better to be able to rerack when your ass is through then to have to dump the weight because you cant hit the hooks.

Yep, its basically a quarter squat and its NOT easy with heavy weights. Your just not in any sort of groove and its nearly impossible to unrack it and tehn setup for the set. I like the rubber mat idea but yea this shit sucks.

i will fuck with your bar position
i like carrying the bar kinda low but once i get over 550 if the bar is too low i cant clear the pegs so im forced to carry it a little higher the heavier i go

the only other suggestion i can make which is what ive been doing
is to literally have the spotters on te sides help lift the bar with you out of the pins..this may sound like cheating but in reality it is not since everyone can squat more in te top 7/8ths of a squat then they can full squat..it takes a little practice since the spotters need to help together and itll make life harder if one is pushing more than the other

i know there is no way in my gym with the shitty bars that i would be able to get anything over 600 out of the rack..the set up and squatting is all you
