In badly need of a decent dumbbell. Confusing what to buy. Just googled this product. Looks nice. But I'm not sure it is that good. What do u guys think about it? Any other suggestions?

I have no experience with SelectTech. The local Sears had the 50 lb version which I checked out and I just don't see how they could last very long once you start dropping them. I'm trying to build a home gym and just bought a set of 20-70 lb hex dumbbells in 10 lb increments on ebay for $550 shipped.

damn that aint bad at all. i believe my whole set ran me almost 1k. stupid fucking inflation. what is it now... 1$ a lb or something?

Powerblocks are better but the 1090s were $359 +free shipping (yes that was the price for a pair) last week directly from Bowflex with a coupon...

imo those adjustable dumbells will become trouble once they have been dropped a few times with heavy weight , once the handle area bends the plates might not line up right.

Honest opinion, the bowflex ones suck. The things that hold the plates in are plastic. They eventually break even without dropping them. One drop they are done. Had a pair never dropped and the still broke.

a set of maxed out powerblocks can go from 5-130 in five pound increments, i love mine, and think they are great, i doubt many people will outlift a set of 130 pound db's....they are very true to their weight, and i use them on those days i cant get out to go to the gym. The take up little space, i think they are good to go.

I prefer the blox over bowflex because bf only goes up to 55lbs.....that limits me quite a bit, but 130...thets good to go.

With that being said.....they are pricey, 1200 total with shipping and what not, but u are agting a full db rack from 5-130,

also, u should modify how u normally handle db's, which basically means dont drop them, i have had no issues with not droppong them, and i would recommend the product to anyone. just my .02
