"Older" guy looking for advice on seemingly unique situation

Greetings board:

I'm considering steroids, done some research, but not finding a lot that meets my situation.

A little about me: age 35, working out for over 20 years, played fb until I was 27, 6-4, 290lbs, about 20 percent bf, currently bench about 375, front squat 315, clean 305

Ive lost about 30 percent strength over the last 6 years, and my joints feel horrible.

Goals - help leaning up, help Joint Pain, keep strength AND metabolic conditioning as I do a lot of crossfit. I'm actually interested in competing in oly lifts.

I'm concerned about hair loss and sex drive. I also do not want to get much bigger. I'm already pretty thick, not as big as I used to be, but I need to fit in my tailored suits!

Any help appreciated.

Using Steriods - Yes, BUT... not yet.

I would clean up your diet and regiment it slightly to let your BF drop naturally down to low double figures / high single figures. At which point you could then look at adding in PEDs.

Why dont you post up your diet, training regime, along with your BMR, TDEE and we will go from there.

Cool. My diet is ok at the moment. I consume about 4k calories a day, about 300g of good protein. Kind of leaning towards a Paleo type eating pattern. Cutting out processed carbs.

My workouts may be bizarre to most on this board. I am a CSCS and CrossFit trainer. I do mostly strength bias stuff with incorporates various compound movements and shorter met cons. I get in 4 lifts per week, one run. Every lift day has a metcon attached. For example, a typical workout may be a strict press 4x3, dead lift 4x3 and front squat 4x3 (not including warm ups) then a 21-15-9 for time of 315 dead lift and 225 bench. That metcon takes me about 11 min.

Yesterday I did 5x2 squat clean, snatch and push jerk, with a met con of 600m row, 30 ring dips and 30 burpees.

I don't want to sound arrogant, because I am here for help, but I'm a ex athlete that knows how to train. My bf may not be that high, but I plan on loosing more before I do anything. Right now I can average a 7 min mile tho.

For years, literally like 10 years, I force fed myself so I could play, and now it's hard to get it off! I'm not sloppy tho, I do have visible abs.

I was thinking of something short and simple like 7 weeks of anavar and test, With minimal quantities of each?

My experience is my Test cycle has made.my joints hurt more. It may be that I'm fatiguing my muscles and joints more now cause of the lifting weight increase. I'm only 3 weeks into this and can see a difference in muscle and strength.

Good to know, I'd rather feel better and lift a little more than feel worse and lift a lot more.

I'm going to read the thread on the tendon help. It would be so nice to do snatches and not feel like my joints are going to blow out

As with everything it is each to their own, but im running with a similiar chain of thought to Dark Matter. I would run a Test Cyp cycle pinning twice a week, and possibly look at adding in Anavar towards the end.

I would jut be wary about the mild water retention you'll get and how that will affect your joints, likewise how the "anavar pump" may affect any delicate areas you have - such as sore shins and excessive calve pump.
