Pain in the Abs normal?

My wife has had surgery to remove a cyst and we have had 2 children one of which was an emergency C section.

When she does Abs she says that it starts to hurt, and I was curious if this was normal.

Also, she looks great however she has a soft butt and a good bit of cottage cheese. I have told her that I assume this is because that is where her body stores fat whereas some people store it around the waist etc.

She used to dance (not exotic unfortunately) and so she has good size legs and is scared they will get bigger.

She loves to work out but is not sure of the most affective way to eliminate these particular problems.

She is 28 years old 5' 4" and 130lbs. She has no clue of bodyfat but if she had to guess she would say 20 to 23%.

Any input appreciated

ok, during a c-section part of the abdominal wall is cut; this does occasionally result in pain while working out. however, it is a good idea to do exercises that strengthen the abs while avoiding excess strain to the area. also, reducing anterior weight will result in less "pulling" on the abs and lower back. she should be doing cardio and strength training at least 3 times a week to start; she should see results in 4-6 weeks if she manipulates her diet as well. best of luck!
