Hoping some of you guys can give some advise here. I got MRI results back today and was told that I have a bruised bone in my left knee and 2 "Partial" Tears in my right knee. Im not sure how this happened, all I know is it happened months back. My question is on training, doctor said he wants to hold off on surgery for now but doesnt want me to do any squats or bend the knee more than 30 degrees....So Im not sure what I can do that might help strengthen things up? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks!!

Uhm. My advice to help strengthen things up would be not to do any squats or bend the knee more than 30 degrees.

partial tears of what, meniscus, colaterals, ACL, PCL, it all depends of which one it is, ligamentous damage responds well to ultrasound of the injured area, it helps the ligaments to realign microscopically and heal stronger, ligamentous damage also takes 6-8 wks to heal, thats if you dont smoke or have any complicating factors like diabetes or your drink your meals (alcohol that is not protein shakes) best of luck

Time off. I know that's not what most folks want to hear, but think about it. If you take time off and let it heal, you don't have to worry about tearing it the rest of the way right now. More importantly, you avoid surgery. If you push things and tear it completely, you get forced to take time off because you are out of the game COMPLETELY while recovering from your surgery.

My advice...lay off legs for several weeks and give this injury some time to heal. Otherwise, you are going to be forced to lay off legs for an even longer period of time and have to go through a ton of therapy just to be able to get back in the gym...several months from now as a result of surgery...because you were too damn hard headed to take a complete break from legs and let the thing heal.

I'M NOT A DOCTOR....I JUST LIKE TO PLAY ONE ON THE INTERNET. lol

I have a repaired ACL and torn meniscus in R. knee..fucking suck and heavy squats are out of the question. I just go light and rep out...also take a full week off between legs. I will neve have bigger legs as a result, but whadda you gonna do. Rest and light weights have been the key for me.

Old balls ,sorry mate but what the fuck does heavy squatting have to do with your ACL?People just use that shit as an excuse, I was guilty of that too many years ago. I've got no ACL's due to sporting injuries, and still have managed to squat deep and heavy.

Tgejr if you can be more specific about what your injuries are , we might be able to help you out. what is torn and how did you do it?

when it hurts to bend your knee and it's hard to even carry your own body weight up a flight of stairs because of multiple knee inj. including ACL reconstruction...I am gonna bet that heavy squats are not going to make it better. Unless you know something the medical community doesn't? I'm open to suggestions..would LOVE to work my legs like I used to.....
