finally ditched the box and did ATF's today........

Even though I was only goin 2-3 inches deeper than with the box, I had to drop the working weight by 50lbs............made me feel like a pussy, but I felt the weight better......better form too.

Knee didn't hurt at all when I kicked off the shoes for the second work set, but the rec people seem to really shit a brick when they see you do that, lol. Fuck em though, I'm goin to the REAL gym on campus from here on out.

lol wow... yeah i was down at Western Michigan University these past few days, and it just happened to be my DC leg day :) so i kicked off my shoes, and started squatting... all the upper-body-ers were looking at me like i was crazy, and this lil guy who worked at came up to me and asked me to put my shoes back on. lololol... gotta love it!

and good job on the ATF :) it will make abig difference for ya

probably worked thier, i had a trainer come up to me and ask why i was cheating as i was doing box squats of a box 1-2 inches below parallel, lol. I hit 500 of a box last nigh, either at or just below paralles and needless to say i got a ton of questions as to what the fuck i was doing, and that looks dangerous, and you are going to hurt yourself. I just laugh.

box squatting is very dangerous bro!!!!!!

It will increase your reg squat poundages exponentially..lol if these people only had a clue lol :D

if you squat barefoot you might drop the bar on your toes, and er, hurt yourself or something. or stub a toe on the rack

its like a rule that the little polo-shirted spray tanned fags are going to shit their pants over guys squatting barefoot, and they never have any justification for doing it..

lol... dropping the bar on your toes while squatting, now that takes talent. id like to see that one, ever happen to anyone?

bro shoes or no shoes if you drop the bar on you foot you screwed. one of the local guys here dropped a 25lb plate on his toe and had to have surgery. ouch.

oh and BTW spikey I am proud of ya bro. nice job.

better than wearing running shoes that got you leaning forward to start with, affects balance. thats why i squat in mocasins. they is very flat. anytime i see some one at the gym wearing those running shoes they always have bad balance. =0)

This is true. Went from some flat soled addidas to some running style shoes and its like it throws me forward at the bottom of the squat. Halfway up it like a good morning just to get the weight stabalized to finish it out. I think it is affecting the deads too, more strain on the lower back I think.

if you must wear tennis shoes use converse/chucktaylors or at least high top flat soled bball shoes . the stiffer the sole the better , a cushioned sole gives and flexes under the extra bar weight .

yeah.. that would be rather uncomfortable :( ive dropped a few things on my feet in my day lol...

I tried squatting without shoes today and it was incredible how much more stable I felt under the weight. No more feeling like I was falling over.
