PC error help :(

The dreaded issue of windows XP...Its the weekend, been a long week at work with 10 hour days...I thought to myself, Game time on Rift!!!!! well, I turn on my gaming PC i got off a friend this morning and BAM I get that.... F-ME last night it was working fine

Had it for about 2 weeks now. Buddy sold it to me for 150, pretty decent but older. He wiped it clean, installed bootleg XP, it has two 8800's set up in SLI, a nice motherboard, 2 gigs(I plan to make it 4 but its DDR so I may wait till i up the motherboard).

Now I cant play, and its quite depressing lol.

Anyways after googling it says I need first of try inserting a Windows XP disc(I dont have of course) so I was going to get ahold of a copy, but in the meantime I am screwed.

All I had on the PC was Steam and about 5 games DLded through steam. So I am not 100% against wiping the damn thing and installing Windows 7 or the likes.

But since i only got 2 giggers, I am trying to stay on XP....the only thing is I cant seem to find it "online" anymore :\

I have tried, several. All I can seem to find is SP3 set ups that are not install CD's.

i'd run 7. 2 gigs is fine. i run 7 on my netbook and it runs better than xp did, and only had 1gig before i started playing with it

i agree. its harder to find solid XP torrents as most are using Vista or 7 now. I use Vista for my home theater PC and it works fine.

So i'd try for either of those. Plenty of good torrents for those out there.

I could look around for my disks, I still have accounts available for my Vista and 7 Disks, The problem is... trying to locate these disks. LOL. If I find them ill shoot you the info.

I just got to get the codes off them, I have a direct link from microsoft that you can download the program. Issue is you need the code. Lets see if my luck changes around yet today...

I just got another Hard Drive(120 gig) and the guys XP pro disc today. The theory is the HDD is going bad. So swap out drives and reinstall..if this one blows, definitely going to windows 7.
