Possible infection?? Need help!

First off bro the swelling is it liquid , or muscle tissue that's swelled that's one question? don't know so try as about take 6 to 800 ibuprofen ANTIINFLAMATORY then use ice pack and only about 15 to 20 minutes , let it rest a while and then try heat pad. could have nicked a vessel . ANYONE ELSE THINK IF INJECTED TO DEEP AND OIL ENDED UP UNDER MUSLE TISSUE CAUSING EXPANSION INSTEAD OF SWELLING ?? Any redness where you pinned at and oozing or anything? are you using amps or a vial . halfwit said it to the pin can nick, tear , or puncture things that do not react good to POKING AROUND.

DONT put an ICE PACK! put a HOT PACK, or run under hot water to help. ice pack with harden the area. this is not a knee injury. if there is some bacteria a hot pack will help body fight it off in that area. I have found out of the the two the hot pack works MUCH better for starting/possible infection or a bad shot.
body swells for good reason in most cases and not something to fight against.
just my op

Well I'm in the hospital now. The Blood tests came back and normal levels for infections are 0.3-0.5, mine was at 2.7. The doc is giving me 4 vials of intravenous antibiotics and some orals to help when I'm off the IV. Thanks for ur advice. I appreciate it everyone.
Just a lesson learned and I hope everyone can use me as an example. When in doubt and your afraid. Just go to the fucking doctor and don't risk further infections that might lead to amputations.

where they testing histamine amount?
this will always be higher post injection (for most anyway)

im curious aswell about this number

2.7???? What is that number? WBCs run from 3.0-10.0. Usually our docs give oral antibiotics and save iv stuff for serious infection. I would really like to know what that 2.7 number respresents for my own curiousity.

I live in Taiwan so their system is a bit different from the US system. And this was a serious infection. By the time I was in the hospital the infection was creeping towards my elbow and my entire upper arm was puffy, red and hot to the touch. Was a bad day. Lol

To be honest I'm not sure exactly what the number represented. The doctor explained that it was the range to gauge the white blood cell count to the infection and they use the scale to see whether its at a normal level or serious. He explained that normal for someone that doesn't have an infection is 0.2-0.5 and and someone with a moderate infection was 1.5+. Mine was at 2.7 so he was a little worried and got me an IV.
I got poked alot yesterday that's for sure. And the nurses kinda fucked up my vein when they did my blood test cause they dragged the needle out instead of pulling it out. Now I have a slit on my vein instead of a hole. -.-
Bitch didn't even say sorry.

Ya I would like to know if the gear was tainted or not and what gear was it. Could help many others in advance bro. Glad u got it taken care of. What did you tell the dr u injected

This is true. The raised temperature from an infection is the bodies reaction to fight it. Our immune system fights infection more effectively at raised temperatures.

SOunds like shitty gear, as the OP said he followed inj protocol.

Well yes but just wiping the area with an alcohol pad doesn't necessarily mean u are using sterile techniques. Personally, I shower and clean entire body, especially hands and injection site. Then wipe the tops of vials, using different alcohol pads wipe injection site once, wipe finger tips with new alcohol pad, pin, then dispose of pin in a sharps container. Now I may be a bit anal but I've never had so much as swelling or anything of the sort. I'm not saying OP wasn't be safe or sterile either tho.

Using an iodine swab is a better sterilization technique also. Any time we start an IO line we use iodine.

Iodine is overrated lol, chlorahexadines where it's at! Our IO kits come with CHlora brushes. Dry time on iodine is too much

Yet the American Red Cross STILL uses a GALLON of iodine every time I'm there. I think they just like knowing that I'm going to spend 30 minutes scrubbing that shit off when I get home. :p

So was it shitty gear that causes the Infection u think? Or were u not using sterile techniques?

Naw bro i don't think it was the gear. To be honest I think it might have been something small. The only thing I did differently that day was get a shower after I pinned, which is usually shower before. I think maybe water got into the hole or something and that's what caused the infection.
