post competition weight gain

HARDCORE
i just competed. i kicked serious booty. and two weeks after the show i feel crappy. i binged for a few days after the show. i think that's where i failed..... i know it actually. i really want those abs back! anyone ever experience this? i have a layer of fat now that i never had before. i hear you can destroy your metabolism by binge eating after a show.... i hope that's not what i did. i guess i'm just looking for solace that i'm not the only one who has gone thru this and that i didn't mess up my metabolism and i will get my abs back. any suggestions?:Pat:

To get your abs back you have to do what you did to get them....diet and train. Now looking at your avatar I'm assuming you aren't a figure competitor.....only a bikini competitor. So you probably had definition but not a 6 pac. You can only keep your body fat low for a short amount of time. Your body needs fuel and nutrients.

How low your body fat was I'm not too sure. But if you were doing bikini you can probably keep that body with a sensible diet.

And as for others going through what you're going through.....you better believe it!

My first contest I gained back 11 pounds in 3 days....4-7 was water weight and the rest was fat. We all binge after contest and that is okay. The thing is to not keep binging. Now that your binge is over go back on a clean diet but not contest clean.....just healthy clean. You will naturally gain a bit of fat but you can keep yourself 10-15 pounds within contest weight by just being careful. You don't have to keep the low cals....just eat healthy at maintenance.

One contest won't screw up your metabolism....just get back on track.

Hard-core dieting to non-stop binging can hurt you......and that is figure or bodybuilding....not usually bikini. You will be fine.

OK, first off, the guy in me will speak. I'm typically into thicker women, but for a long lean body, you got a fucking hot physique kimmy. Great little ass for being so long and lean too. Don't see that often. Love the tats, and ever since Stoya took over popular porn, now I gotta thing for pale skinned hotties. So nice work lol

Now to answer your serious question. :DYes, it happens to us all. Did you take any diuretics? That is one thing that saved me from having a huge rebound is I didn't take any my last show. Although, you will still rebound no matter what, its just to a certain degree based on your body makeup.

As MM said, to recover you gotta just get back on the horse so to speak. I won't repeat what she said, but will add this.

Typically, at least for me and most of my former clients, you may gain or lose fat in different areas than you did before you competed. Why this happens I have no idea, but fat re-distribution does happen to everyone. For example, you may be used to losing fat from top to bottom. The next time it may be from bottom to top. No biggie, just don't freak out if it happens.

Bad thing about competition dieting (maybe not so much for a bikini competitor) is that it tends to have those effects on your body comp in regards to the next time you diet down.

Again, i don't think its a big concern, but some, especially women (happens to my wife everytime), have a hard time if that one area doesn't come down like their used to... even if others come down faster/better.

Again, very hot physique. Great job.

P.S. How tall are you?

girl your trippin.. stop worrying.. u did great... u rewarded yourself a little.. go back to a good healthy diet.. do your cardio and you'll be back on track!!

i'd also like to know how tall u are.. i would say maybe 5'8-10?? unless the picture is lying to me.. i know u got heels on too...

remember you gain that weight because of the hypervolume effect your body has after a serious caloric restricted diet... its gonna happen either way, binging doesn't help, but stop worrying about it...

i personally don't like keto, but i know it can be effective. Check with Blondie, and dtone as I believe that is their preference.

Ever tried a carb cycle?

5'3" huh? Damn you look tall as hell.

I've done exactly the same thing you've done. Either post competition or after experiment with a new diet, I will binge because I feel like I've been so deprived , this can happen often, which can lead to a lot of weight
The problem has been that once you diet down lean for a competition or whatever, you really want to keep that look. You will binge then it's more so the remorse than the fact that you may have put on a few "water" lbs.
My advice, forget about the past binge it's not a big deal and you'll get over it. But also remember to have a cheat meal once in awhile to avoid the deprivation and need to binge.
As far as keto, I have tried it. It will drop lbs off, however for myself I found that I was wanting to have cheat meals more often because I never really felt satisfied with out carbs.
I have a true addiction to oatmeal!

its comforting to know that i am not alone in this. thank you. i have never cycled carbs so low before. but i am very carb sensitive, so i figured this kinda suits my goals. how on earth do people like ava cowan stay in that shape nearly year round? i'm tryin to get on that level, lol. i google post competition rebound and learned a whole mess of info. i really should've done my homework before the show. post comp diet is just as important as pre comp. again, thank you all very much. oh, i think i put on some muscle! is it true, in anyones own experience, that you become incredibly anabolic after a diet like that? i swear my guns grew!

i believe it is. You're body has been so starved during a prep, that, at least for a male competitor, its almost like your body is ready to grow as soon as you recover.

And remember, although Ava is in great year round shape, that is her job. Not all of us can be that lucky to have that as our job.

So don't get down on yourself. Set yourself some short/long term goals and get on it.
