PCT Training (to keep gains)...

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this thread, but I am curious how others modify their training during PCT (and on to being clean) to keep the most gains, not overtraining or undertraining.

All feedback appreciated.

my training always stays exactly the same... I don't do more volume when on...my weights usually stay the same too because if "on" I don't tend to increase lifts more than 10-20 lbs in a cycle so I don;t loose strength. i know some guys are able to increase their lifts 50lbs + but it doesn't for like that for me and they loose about half of the gain when off.

most people I know who cycle do not change their routines

Simply put, that is not possible with massive fluctuations in hormone levels, unless you are training too easy when you are on, and too hard when you are off. If you are on and your free test levels are 5X or 8X or even more your natural level, then it is obvious that your recovery level is GREATLY heightened and work load needs to be significantly increased. The opposite goes for post cycle therapy (pct) where in most, if not all cases, hormone levels will go even below natural levels (at least for a little while). If one keeps their high intensity, high work volume up during this time, burn out (and other negative things) will occur, period.

So, I am wondering how those with significant experience with this issue deal with it the most effectively, keeping as much gains as possible. I have my own experience, but like to try to learn from others as well.

I haved found in the past that after being on, I can train at the same weight, but i may have to cut back the amount of reps. But I try to keep the same weight...so, toi compensate for not being able to keep the same rep range, I can add an extra set, and take a bit longer rest in my sets..i always lifted heavy and powerlifted...so i need to keep the weight the same also...

i disagree..i believe that it depends on how you train and who you are..most guys hit the sauce to get stronger and are happy and then go off not to go on again...or at least not for a while..

lets take a powerlifter who lifts heavy all the time, and go on to break plateaus and gain more power...when off do they undertrain? no, they continue to train heavy and exert the same amount of intensity off as on..and i know this from practical application, not book knowledge...

as i stated before..i feel that you can maintiain gains as far as power and strength by maintaining the same training and workout schedule..as i have in the past..before taking a hiatis

nice post hack..
pct training is a critical thing.
i didn't do many cycles but for me cutting back on the vol a bit and keep reps betwin 6-8 do the work as far as strengh and muscle...
i realy wanna here the big guys opinion:) and others

I believe it's critical to keep the nervous system accustomed to heavy weights while "off" so keeping at least some work in the 3-5 rep range is a must IMO.

I tried to train exactly the same, by comparing before and after it's a good test of how much you kept from ur cycle...I'd never lighten the weight as ur body will think it's ok to get weaker again..I have no scientific proof to back this up.

I tend to lose quite a bit when I get off, so I lesson weights and increase reps to keep the added strain off my tendons and connective tissue. After all, when I compete Im going to be "on" so whats the point of trying to do 405 for 10 when I can simply keep the weight at a much more connective tissue friendly 315 and do 17 reps. Ive found that by working with higher reps, my weights dont drop dramatically i.e. I can do 315 for 20 while "on" 405 for 12 or "off" 315 for 17-18, but 405 would kill me. Im older now and Ive had my share of injuries and in my mind avoiding injuries comes first. I also lesson volume and total time in the gym. I also get a little more strict on my diet to lose BF. Im sure this has an effect on how much tissue I retain however it lets me go a little more crazy in terms of my diet when I am able to train for maximum size and strength.
IMO its all in how you look. Im a bodybuilder though. Weight is a distant second for me.

im a firm beleiver in training heavy with high intensity but drop the reps and sets back . keep the calories and protein coming in and add cee creatine .
